Stephanie: It is very common for those who have no connection to the world of health care to tout being a traveler. The problems you will face as a traveler- mostly related to being marginalized- may be okay if you are coming for 6 months of fun in the sun. But because that is the reason most travelers come here, they ARE treated poorly. If you are serious, and if you have been here before and think you are willing to live in a culture unlike the one you live in now, take a leap of faith.
There are other jobs available all the time in doctors offices, the schools, etc. You should put in for your nursing license ahead of time so you can hit the ground when you do arrive. Call and network those places above, check the Island Trader and Virgin Islands Daily News on line.
