Hmmm maybe. GBH sure is a nice place to shop since HD has loomed. Hopefully it will be a win-win. There's an old marketing truism that one gas station in the middle of nowhere will fail but two gas stations across from each other in the middle of nowhere will thrive.

But I'm still so looking forward to it. The stt one does have good and bad service but overall it's a huge convenience and they had really great prices on a lot of things. We always hit it when we are there.

Noticed the HD ads in the Avis now, guess they are trying to build excitement or maybe they always do this for July 4 weekend. Some of the prices on their July 4 sale are definitely exciting!

When Home Depot came to St Thomas, people were complaining that it was going to put all the other stores out of business. I don't think that has happened, and I think everyone is more niche-oriented. Home Depot has the cheaper stuff and other places have nicer ($$) stuff!

Has anyone else noticed how nice the employees at GBH are being? They've always been great but.........I think some additional customer service training is going on.

I've always found them to be nice, some are just not blessed with great people skills but if you take the time they really are very helpful and nice. What I have a problem with is their prices. If I can buy something online line and save a ton of money including shipping you need to rethink your prices. I don't think they will go out of business but I do think home depot's going to make them rethink their prices. Although with Gannets so supper close, it might actually put one of them out of business.

GBH has always given great service to it's customers, The people and Gannat are all past GBH employee's and give tha same service, also when doing a project their expertise is well worth the few extra dollars you have to spend.(tu)

There are plenty of hardworking drug free people on STX - who will do a fine job - that is a ridiculous comment from eagleray

I am glad Home Depot is coming. I will never again have to endure the rudeness at Caribe. I will not have to step over boxes in the aisles at Gallows Bay. And we will finally get some new plants with good prices on the island!

Home Depot is going to be great for us! We will set a new standard for customer service on the island. I am currently in training for Home Depot and I must say they are serious about customer service. I love it!

There are many people who will not go that far west for a small purchase. I think there is room for both a big box and smaller hardware stores. As far as customer service goes at Home Depot, time will tell. They started out gangbusters on STT and changed as tme passed.

Yes time will tell ....but alot will depend on the management end of Home depot...good management will correct bad attitudes and lackluster customer service.by firing those who can't or won't ....get it.If they can keep a well stocked store they will thrive and I can't wait.Gbh will have to find new price points to stay in the game.I personally think this a very much needed facility to this island ...
