That must have been an interesting claim at the final destination, trying to convince the baggage agent that the wrong cat was in the cage.

Wonderful, nothing like a yappy dog/rat on a plane

Not saying it doesn't happen, but I've never experienced that. You've probably flown several times without even knowing you were sharing a cabin with someone's pet.

Yeah the plane background noise basically drowns out any noises the pets make in their carriers under the seat. If your worried about noise ask the airlines to check crying kids in baggage 🙂

I love the rationalization owners of hybrid rat/dogs jump thru. Yes, Yes, your little chishitzpoo is the most fabulous thing ever and everyones life is so much better after being graced by your dogs mere presence

Kids are a separate issue and much like dogs the problem starts with the parents/owners copping the above attitude.

I HIGHLY recommend NOT taking your pets on the small planes. We brought our cats, no problem from AZ to STT and then when we moved STT to STX we took them on cape air. It was SO freaking hot, one of my cats started to overheat. I was in tears - she's my kid - and we had to wet her down once off the plane. It was terrifying. The sea plane would be worse IMO.

Delta does have a direct from NY but as stated above - may not be able to take your pet. So annoying.

I took my black lab/golden retriever mix to PR for surgery on her foreleg when she was a 60 lb. pup who eventually grew into 130 lbs. We flew on Seabourn, over and back. She's pure black and had to go in cargo as it was a full flight on the way over. She serenaded us from the cargo area for most of the flight ( a bit embarrassing, but what can you do?) but she was fine once we disembarked. On the return trip, they allowed her in cabin with me, in her kennel, in 2 seats across from mine as flight was not full. No serenading this time.

Ok yeah I will be taking Seabourn also. I am wondering now if I should stay a day in STT when I get there so I can make sure when I take the Seabourn flight it's really early in the morning so it's cooler out. The day we arrive on STT it will be about 12noon and that's when I was going to take the Seabourn to STX with the pets but I think the temperature might be too high that time of day.

I don't think you'll have the same issues as with the major airlines. Seaborne flies at a much lower altitude and it's a very short flight.

Seaborne is supposed to not take animals when it gets over 85 degrees outside so early is best. The temperature is based on outside weather not temperature in the cargo hold.

Have never had a problem with my 18 lb, black, double-coated dog in Cape Air cabin - to and from STX via PR and STT. A few years ago, when we had a delay after we were on board in STT, they took her and me off and back to the terminal until just before they were ready to fly again, so she wouldn't overheat. And it was their idea, not mine. I'm a fan.

Our cats went in the back in cabin in their carriers. If we do that again it will be a night flight.
