NO MORE ST THOMAS DAIRIES MILK

Sad to know that this won't be available any more in stores. I know a lot of people didn't care for its taste and this isn't meant to spark a debate on its merits in that respect. The "imported" milk is so much more expensive and maybe I'll have to start looking at powdered milk as an everyday alternative! No word yet on whether "Udder Delite" will go down the tubes as well but since the dairy will still be producing milk for school programs, hope I can look forward to a wonderful milk shake treat after a day at Magens!

Is their delicious ice cream in trouble?

Thank goodness, they'll still be generally distributing the ice cream.

After watching the news clip I provided, the owner states they will still be producing their ice cream.

Udder Delite is staying open. It is owned by a former employee who buys St. Thomas Dairies products for his business.

Old Tart, I found the cheapest "imported" milk is Dankin at Pueblo. $2.99/half gallon. $4.99/gallon. Whole milk, 2%, 1%, and skim milk all the same price.

I hope the price stays the same since the LEAC increase. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the info but unfortunately Pueblo is way out of my travel area. I picked up what I suppose will be my last gallon of STT Dairies milk yesterday at CULess. Sigh.

I get the Dakin milk, too. St Thomas Dairies has suffered a long time, and I quit buying their products long ago.

You quit buying their products because the business was suffering? :S

I used to buy sometimes 4 gallons of St. Thomas Dairies milk that would last me about a week and a half. I got addicted to it.
It was cheaper in Kmart and CostULess compared to the other stores that carried it. Once they raised their prices and Pueblo started selling "imported" milk cheaper, I switched over.

The point really is that another business suffers and bites the dust due to WAPA.
This is just one of many that has already gone under because of high cost of electrity.
Unfortunetly, it shall not be the last, either.

When is our Government and our elected leaders going to do something about it?
For every business that goes under, that is one less source of taxable income for the VI coffers.
Then they have to create new taxes and raise others for the rest of us to make up the shortfall.

This debacle is decades in the making.

I hear Brow's Soda might be making a comeback. I love their brand. I hope it is not a rumor.

Yes, you can freeze milk. Pour out about a cup from the container to allow for expansion. Best to thaw in the 'fridge and, before pouring, shake the container well to redistribute the fat content which will separate in the freezing process.
