News on St. Croix
For those of you who don't understand "news" in the VI, this is an example of "news"
Ric and I were going to the grocery today and saw that a bus stop shelter had colapsed. We wondered what happened, maybe it blew down, maybe termites got to the wooden support posts, or maybe someone pushed it down.
We found out when we got home. There in the St. Croix Avis, on the 3rd page, was a fairly large picture of the shelter with an explanation. Seems a car went out of control yesterday and hit it and it fell down.
When we try and tell people that the papers here print stories that would NEVER make the papers on the continent, Please remember the picture of the bus stop that got hit by a car.

Linda: The picture was in the Daily News also!! Now, what will be interesting to see is if they ever repair the bus stop! Over here (on St Thomas), someone knocked down the bungalow in Market Square two years ago. The cost for replacing it is a million +, and of course the truck driver only had the basic $10,000 in liability insurance, so it has not been tended to. Also, the bridge over the waterfront highway was damaged nearly 2 years ago by another truck. It hasn't been repaired either. The main purpose of the bridge was to keep the youth, our future, safe. Guess they are pretty high on the list, huh? Another Bridge to Nowhere??
Stop it, East Ender. Stop it, now!
is that you wanted to blame TERMITES. Sheesh
Promo: Have you ever seen 'em?? They COULD eat a bus stop!! 😉
I heard there are termites in south america that can level a wood frame house in TWO weeks! Sheeesh.
but termites are people too.
Looks like I got too much time on my hands between games. Geaux Tigers beat fUcla. I hate having to root for the lesser of two evils. Then get your a***s whooped by Florida.
Island Ed,
Perhaps the islands' termite problems could be solved by importing Capuchin monkeys to eat the termites. I'm guessing R.F. is a Howler monkey but given that so many tourists find the local cocks crowing at all hours of the night detrimental to the enjoyment of their vacation, a mass import of Howler monkeys is out of the question. Capuchin monkeys, and their quieter monk-like nature, seem like a better, or perhaps I should say weller, fit. Just a thought...
Wow, this is wild. It made the Orlando paper too......Well, OK, I made it up. But it was funny, no?
