New VI Energy Office Rebate Program

For those thinking about Solar and Wind Power!

The new rebate numbers have beeen released to all the certified vendors in the territory. Although not quite what most expected, the new numbers ae quite impressive from what they were last year at this time. Solar hot water, solar electric and wind turbines all have significant rebates. This new program will run for 3 years or until the money runs out.

Heres the new breakdown for solar electric-VIEO rebate:

*50% off or the maximums seen below

NO battery system
-$7000 for solar panels ($3.50/watt-2k max)
-$1200 for inverter

$8200 max

WITH Battery backup
-$7000 for panels
-$1200 for inverer
-$3000 for batteries
-$300 for charge controller

$11500 max

When you add these new local rebates along with the Federal 30% tax credit, the overall system price has come down about 50% (out of pocket cost) since last year for solar electric systems.

All rebate information about Solar Hot water, Solar Electric, WInd Turbines and Energy Star Appliances will be posted here http://www.vienergy.org/ when the new program officially starts on October 1st.

*Edit---There are also new programs with regard to Solar hot water for lower income families, the elderly, single moms, handicapped that will be announced! No cost up front systems and WAPA is on board after alot of negotiations and time spent on the project.
