The difference was $4.12 on STT....
I could find that difference on one item!
Has anyone noticed Pueblo chicken is now tied(exactly) for the crappiest chicken prices on STT?<<<Colluding!!!
The former king of crap being Food Center.
Pueblo has also had to reduce their price & try to sell it twice since the huge increase.
The smell of one almost made me pass out(they waited too long).
One note here, Food Centers Chix is from the states, while Pueblo`s is from PR.

So do any of the markets on STT accept coupons? Do they offer any milk punch cards or the like. Sorry if this is redundant but during our property renovations and PMV I must have still been in the honeymoon phase.

Thanks DUN,

I could just imagine giving Subway a coupon. The last time that I was in the subway in Red Hook I ordered op 4 sandwiches, the lady was somethat upset with me when the line began to grow behind me and told me that the next time that I ordered up that many sandwiches I needed to call ahead! 4 Sandwiches mind you! Hmmm, maybe I should have brought the other 3 sub eaters with me, I don't think that would solve anything anyway. And also, how can a sub shop run out of pickles so frequently, they have a shelf life longer than I am.

I'm not sure they are comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges....$4.99 for broccoli at Pueblo and $1.95 on St. John? Something must be different. (one whole, the other florets; one old, the other fresh; one regular, the other organic....something!

OK Molly,
Wife says regarding honoring coupons,Pueblo, Plaza, & Kmart will.
Price su(ks(Price Smart) & Cost-U-More(Cost-U-Less) does not as they consider them selves warehouse stores (apparently w/o warehouse prices).

I remember her using a banquet coupon for frozen dinners 6-10 oz., $1=1.49, $1 off.
After much problems & the cashier calling the manager, it didn`t get resolved.
The casheir & the manager said they didn`t have any Banquet frozen dinners between $1-$1.49, they were $2.35-$2.65.

I explained Mr. Banquet never thought in his wildest dreams anyone would have the greed to charge more than $1.49, but that he has never visited pueblo either!
I started chanting Pueblo, Pueblo, Pueblo the prices dem is high!
the chant is from a island wide boycott several years ago!

And, regarding the age of pickles, I`ve seen many meats here have their experation dates changed so many times, I think they are Arab family heirlooms, passed on from market to market, generation to generation!

DUN,

I also sometime wonder about the meat! Especially when you can notice the red colored dye leaking onto the plastic coating. I always cook things well done even though medium rare is my choice. I trust the local resturants to serve up my favorites so that I can order my steak medium rare.

If your wife had a coupon that offered a free product that the store then filled in the maximum amout she should still be able to redeem it. Although if that free Banquet meal cost $2.49 and the average resale price is $1.49. I'd be curious if you could contact some of these merchants yourself and redeem your coupons with your receipt?

They should add another section. Main Land Prices! Then we could all cry!

From this list I'd say quite a few things are cheaper than in my local stores (except, perhaps, the discount grocery nearby - which also has very poor food quality). However, a few staples are missing so I can't really be sure.

As an example:

Pork ribs around here - $3.99/lbs (compare to $2.40-$2.70 in the list)
Tomatoes - I haven't seen any for less than $2/lbs in a while. Granted - we have a much better variety 🙂
If anything, in general this list strikes me as relatively inexpensive.

I have never seen coupons like they have in the states- in the newspaper, etc. Where are you all getting these coupons? I think the manufacturer ones say "good in the continental US only" or something like that, don't they??

You can find them in magazines & if you have pals in the States who get Sunday supplements to their papers get them to send you some. I doubt they'd take the online ones you print out. You can also buy coupons on Ebay.

Here's a bunch for Bounty paper towels with some other products mixed in. Most have free shipping & a lot are for 10 coupons/$1.00 off for a little over $1.00 with free shipping.

I know someone in the States who's a power seller doing just that. Of course, she's too dumb to do anything else. 😉

LOL!

I bought something at Plaza the other day that had the "instant" coupon on the box. The checker actually took it off the box and gave me credit. I would probably have forgotten it.

cheryl96s,
Just guessing, but it could be the buying power of Kmart vs. little ol' Paza Extra, with just 4 (?) stores.

Ya ever see little `ol Plaza Extras owner, Fathi Yusuf`s Behemoth house(it`s the gigantic beige home on Skyline w/ 2' poured concrete walls...
Ya, know, the guy who According to the indictment, between 1996 and 2001, Plaza Extra registered sales exceeding $300 million. But the owners of the stores failed to report $60 million in sales on tax returns filed with the Virgin Islands guy?
Um, yeah, he can`t afford to sell peanuts for 2-1/2 bucks!(OK, I love wasabi!!)

Seriously though, how IS he going to make it selling veal @ $16.99/lb. & chicken breast for $5.69/lb.?
I could get medium shrimp @ Cost_U_ more for that price of chix!

Derka derka, Mohamed jihad!

I am guessing then that his home is not as nasty as his stores???!
Seriously, why is it ok with his store manager that meat can be placed in a shopping cart for "reduced price" while they try to fix the meat cooler? When I saw a cart full of red meat I felt it with my hand the temperature of the meat and it was barely cool, but I bet that when the cooler did get fixed that same warm meat that was sitting out for God knows how long went right back in and marked back up to full price. Mind you, I am not suggesting that this happens daily, but a little common sense would go along ways!
