Net down on part of StX
Broadbandvi's Blue Mtn tower was knocked out Sunday by lightning.
You'd never know it by their weak website. I finally got thru to their voicemail after numerous tries.
Said "tues or wed" for full repair. Said "patched in" a slow connection for the area until then, but not working at all for me.
Thankfully ATT 3g is working. But Broadbandvi REALLY needs to upgrade their site to give realtime info on system status, AND make their webpage more Mobile Friendly. Neither of these thing would cost money. Any web techie could figure it out.
Interesting! I had no trouble when I called on Saturday and the message indicated their Blue Mountain Tower was down. I called yesterday morning (Sunday), with no problems, and message indicated as of 6:38 a.m. they were sending a crew to repair lighting strike damage at Blue Mountain and would update later in the afternoon. Service was back for us in the afternoon, and continues to be working now, as of 12:45 p.m. I was happy with the updated messages when calling for an update.
Knocking on wood and hoping for no additional lightning strikes. 🙂

I have been down for over an hour. When I call BBVI all I get is an unanswered phone. It rings for a few minutes then goes to a fast busy.
Oooops ... shortly after knocking on wood, I was watching the storm from the front porch and saw a lightning strike in the vicinity of Blue Mtn., then noticed our internet was down - DANG IT! Since then, it's been off and on ... more "off" then "on.
The current message at BBVI states problems at many access points over most of the island.
I had no problem finding out status of BBVI by calling the number 719-2943 and getting their automated menu. Pressed 2 for status.

I don't have BB for my internet because I use satellite for my connection, but hear mostly good things about them. These recent storms have obviously wreaked some havoc with the access points. I'm sure they are working hard to get the systems back in working order.
For those that NEED internet you should have a backup connection.
Took me several long ringing tries on the phone and they also finally responded to my email. For a High Tech company they should have it figured out, including a blog on an off island server which can be updated via cell phone.
btw..i keep hearing about limited service being in effect from Blue Mtn, but I'm not getting it and it's where my signal comes from.
