Negative turns positive rant
Got off work early, did laundry. Washer and dryer available without wait! Out to car, didn't start. No jumper cables, walked from Nisky to Napa, closed at 5. Stopped at tire store, no jumper cables but he offered a battery to try. Too lazy to carry it. Got back to car to call friends (thanks you know who!) Kid from tire store pulls up with cables. Starts right up, told me Western's open til 8. Gave him $25 and much thanks! Drove there, battery's no good. Kid has another one to put in so I pay. Stand out by car for 10 minutes while he was working on the other car. Gorgeous "fingernail sliver" moon. He stops by and says "you can go, I put it in hours ago". I said it's only been 10 minutes! "Did it while you were in line". Only had a $5 to tip him. Drove under the light at K-Mart to check my shiny new battery (make sure it was bolted down). Lowering hood and a young woman asks "need any help?" WOW!! Such a yin/yang with the shootings, general negativity lately.
Note to self... 1. Buy jumper cables 2. Carry more $10s and $20s to reward truly helpful young people.
Everyone have a great evening!

I love these islands and our people, and I love your story Cathy!
I live in LA and will probably never visit the USVI and I LOVED your story! Thank you for sharing.
Some of the worst and best days of my life have happened on STX.
For every idiot that cuts me off, AND flips me off, there are more than that who say God Bless, or Have a Blessed Day, or whatever, and let me out in front of them. I love living here. Cathy taught me about Yin Yang - and it is so true here.
One day I was trying to haul a HEAVY bag of garbage up and into the dumpster. A man in a little red car went by and SHOUTED at me ... NOOOOOO NOOOOOOO NOOOOOO !!!. I admit I was a bit scared, because he stopped his car real fast and jumped out.... he couldn't speak English. He showed me that he had muscles.... he said something like "I strong", lifted the bag I was struggling with (like it was a feather) and tossed it in the dumpster. He looked in the car and saw another bag, and tossed that one too.
My day was great. I think of that day often.
It's so nice to hear a good story on here! Thansk for sharing it with us Cathy!
i hope this thread continues, with tale after tale of happy goodness! thanks for sharing suzette!
