Need word translation!
I'm new to West Indies/Island culture. Just finished reading T. Yanique's "Land of Love and Drowning". Can someone please define for me the expression to "lime"???
Thank You!*-)
To party.
LOL, I figured it was something like that!
Thanks!
There is not a concept equivalent to liming in the states, so it does not translate well. For a good treatment of the subject, see this:

My best translation is, "doing nothing with the deliberate purpose of doing nothing".
To party.
not necessarily....you can lime without partying. A better translation would be to hang out.
Also, the word can be a verb or noun.

On STX it would be to hang out.
Yes, "hang out" is more on the mark than "party".:D If you're supposed to be working but are hanging around yakking, you "jes limin'"!
To me, "liming" is relaxing, doing a whole lot of nothing much.;)
We named a cat Limin. He does a lot of it!!!!!

For "lime" and other words you might run into. 🙂
No no no! Limin is when you pour tequila all over yourself and run around in circles like you're a human blender making a margarita. Sheesh!
😀
It's chillllin. Limin.
Excellent!
Just chillin' or limin'...that my life!
Thanks for all the input! Love the Crucian dictionary
