need recommendations for a stx vet for dog
bringing down a new (to us) small dog...healthy, but we want to start a relationship with one of the vets on st croix. For some reason, search won't bring anything up...We live out east, so I'd prefer no further west than mid island...and I know the names of various vets, but wanted to know who folks thought was good, better, best, etc. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Good people.
I use Kasey Canton D.V.M. 340 773-1256 He has an office in Gallows Bay. I Like him a lot ( he is the only Vet I have used) so can't compare him with the others.
Dr Hess is wonderful as well........just past 5 corners
I agree with Lizard; we have used Kasey for many years and of course, we think he is the best.
Is Dr. Canton with Progressive Animal Hospital? We also need to find a good vet for our two dogs and a cat, so I'm nosing in on this thread. 😀

We love Dr. Hess. He is such a kind man. I loved the way he loved all over our dog. So cool.
Yes Progressive and Dr Canton one in the same.
Another vote for Dr. Hess. We really like him a lot.
all of my friends use Dr. Hess and Island Animal Clinic, 718-3106
All 3 vets who have been recommended are very good; visit them all and see who you "click" with.
Thanks, Lizard!
Here is a vote for Dr. Hess at island animal clinic. One emergency cell phone call and he met us at 4Am one morning when our dog was having serious difficulty breathing. I don't know where else you find someone who is not only an excellent veternarian from a technical perspective, but just plain loves the animals he takes care of.
We have used every vet here on stx and Dr Hess wins hands down. Canton is very well educated but our experience with him professionally has been very bad. Others in our area have reached the same conclusion independently. Socially he is a great guy and excellent stx booster.
Good luck.
Will call for an appt with Dr Hess.
Dr. Duke Deller in F'Sted, he is awesome. I found 5 little abandoned kittens and he took them in care for them and found them a home. the man rocks!
I don't think I've ever met a "bad" veterinarian. Here or stateside.(I'm sure they're out there) It takes alot of dedication to get the degree and then deal with animal health issues and their owners every day. We have used Canton and Hess and liked them both. We are currently using Hess at Island Animal Clinic due to the fact that he has many years experience and really seems to love the animals.
I'm hearing wonderful things about Sugarmill too but have not been there.
I agree with Boyd. See who you "click" with.
Love the folks at SugarMill and a GREAT boarding facility too.
