Need moving advice
I'm thinking of moving to St. John in the next few months and would appreciate any info someone could give me regarding the following:
1) I've worked in restaurants as a waiter/bartender for many years and was wondering how easy it would be to get a job in a fine dining establishment.
2) What would be the approximate cost of renting a place with a roommate (decent, but nothing luxurious), and what kind of money could I expect to make?
3) If anyone knows of any job opportunities in the hospitality industry, I would love to hear from you.
4) Does anyone know when hotels and restaurants begin hiring extra people for the busier seasons?
Thanks for any info - Have a great day!
Hello,
Yes you can find work in restaurants during season which gets started around late November and runs through early May. What you make would depend on the popularity of the restaurant and your services.... you make your money on tip.
Check the Housing Section of this web site for approximates on rentals.
Hotels/Restaurants tend to hire their wait staff from folks that are on-island... so while it may seem difficult you need to be here first. Save $$ to keep you a float for a while until you secure something.
