Hello everyone,

Does anyone know of a nice inexpensive hotel or guesthouse in STX that I can consider for a pre-move, apartment find visit for a few days in late May or early June?

Nice = clean + cable tv + near people + near restaurant + private bath + resonably priced

Thanks for the info in advance.

Try Carrington's Inn. Of if you want in town, Caravelle Hotel or King Christian Hotel.

Hi, I just returned from my pre-move visit Tuesday the 19th.
I stayed at the Kronegade Inn in Christiansted. Clean, gated, The rooms are like a studio apt. with a full bath and a kitchette.
It is on King Street, which may be condidered the main street
very in-expensive. The owner Hurchell Greenaway bent over backward to be of any help. The drawbacks are it's about a 10 block walk down to the wharfside it's in a (from what I gathered) hispanic area. I never had a problem all the pepole were as nice as can be. Taxi fare is $5.00 to anywhere in town.
However, if you have a choice of other hotels which a simular in price, I would go with the King Christian Hotel. It's right on the water at the wharf were all the restaurants are etc.

If you want any other info. write this thread or e-mail me

Kronegade Inn has a website, but you cant't register on line, besides I called and found the price was even lower then those quoted on-line Phone# 340-692-9590
I was there for two weeks, the also have housekeeping

One love

Hi. Just read your posting about accomodations and wanted to ask you more about making the move to STTH. DO you recommend a pre-move visit as essential, and are you making a major career shift in chosing to relocate? Are you able to maintain the career you have?

thanks

So...... What did you think about STX? Is it what you thought? Has anything changed your mind/re-inforced your thoughts? Having just come back from the PMV, what advice do you have for the rest of us soon making our PMV... things to make sure to check out/don't forget about....

What thoughts did it leave you with? More questions to be answered or were you satisfied with what you found out?

Did you go with specific goals for this trip or was it just to get a feeling of the island?

Did you plan to / or did you end up cementing any plans? Like did you job or housing search? How close to your potential move is this PMV?

Can you tell I am a little anxious about my upcoming PMV? I just realized today that it is just 37 days away!!! That both entices and scares the crap out of me. Now, all of a sudden, I am getting the "Am I making a mistake" thoughts. They aren't necessarily mine, but what some people are saying. But you have a time when you wonder.

But then I remember my good friend who suddenly died at 40. I vowed I wouldn't pass up opportunities that came along. And that I would DO things that I have always wanted to but kept saying "someday".

Details, Details, Details.... I want details!!!

Thanks

Well, I am still developing an impression of stx. My original plan was to live in stt. I inerviewd in both places. However, the job was offred in stx and I am still waiting for an official contract. After I get the contract. I plan to come back over to check out the island somemore and to seek housing. I've made some contacts since I was last there. I clearing impression of the way of life there. It appears much more laid back. How laid back is the question for me. I am really not a big party animal. I just like to know it there when I need it. I am not making a career change, but I will be making a big change in salary. I plan to move at the end of July. I have sooooooo much to do. To be honest today I feel a little overwhelmed. It seems like that is plenty of time. But I just count the number of paychecks between now and then and stuff I need to do that takes 60 and 90 days to process and I just take deep breaths. So if you keep in tocu about things I'll do the same. I hope this help some.

Yes Yes Yes, I reccommend a pre move visit or two. Someone told me US Air has a special to VI from now until June. I have not had the chance to look into that yet. I will not be making a career change just a salary adjustment. Make calls before you come read the daily newspapers to see whats going on. and stay on the message board. You will get so many of your questions answered before you come. Don't be afraid to Contact the message board about the little things. THe little details you will find are just as important. Stay in toch and I'll do the same.
