Hey guys. I read the boards here a lot but hardly ever post. My friend and I are contemplating a move down to STT for the season...maybe longer. We have been offered jobs with a cruise ship excursion company. I have been to STT on vacation and have always thought about living there. We are both in our mid 20's and would be moving to STT at the end of Sept. What can we expect to pay for a 2 bedroom condo? Can we get a car for under 2, 000 grand that will be reliable enough? Any advice or encouragement is welcome. We still haven't quite pulled the trigger to commit but we have to decide within 2 weeks!

Hello,
A two bedroom condo, say $1200-1700+ - price depending on which complex it is in and the amenities, age, location, etc. You can find a two bedroom apartment starting at less; say $800-900 and up.
You can find an ok car for around $2000. I have found when you start going lower than say $1500 the more 'island car' the car becomes.
You've got a job lined up, that's half the challenge. (tu)

I'm also considering moving down for the high season or longer (I'm going to be in the islands on August 15th), also in my mid 20's - how did you find out about the job? It sounds interesting and I may be looking for work in mid to late September.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one doing this "crazy" thing (according to most of my friends and family)! I will be spending the season on-island also, but won't arrive until December. I would also like to hear how you guys found the jobs with the cruise company. Keep me posted on how things go once you get there!
