need a bit of guidance
greetings and good evening...
for those of you that overstand the intricacies of VI government, i have a few questions as i am doing some research for a class.
as far as local (VI) government goes, what are the differences between governing a state and a territory.
i know when i lived there i never really got it sometimes, as even though the VI is a US property and is governed by US law, there appears to be a bit of manipulation in interpretation of and sometimes blatantly ignoring said law and governing by what i call, local law.
so how are the two governments different in their application of law?
if i were to take the research topic of governing a state v a territory, what are some suggestions in narrowing down that topic in a scholarly manner where the VI is concerned?
i would like to weave the happenings of the constitutional convention into the research somehow.
just networking to try and get the juices flowing....
give thanks in advance

Good questions Sis! I'm curious too.
The interpretation of the right to bear arms is different here than in the states. It is much more complicated to legally purchase a gun here, and bring it to your home. In the states, you can purchase a gun and have it licensed and in your home withing a matter of days. In the USVI it can takes months to complete the process.
You might take a look at the Revised Organic Act, which is what governs the USVI (rather than the U.S. Constitution.)
