National politics and the USVI
Good Day All:
Assuming the U. S. presidential results stand, some are optimistic, some are considering leaving the country, while others have vowed to "stay and fight." All of which got me wondering how much U. S. politics effect life in the Virgin Islands of the United States? I am aware that as residents of a Territory you do not get to vote in presidential elections, and that not all stateside legislation carries over (ACA for example). So is it true that "all politics is local," or do goings-on on the mainland get a lot of attention? What, if anything, has locals concerned or excited politically about the next four years? Last bit of National legislation that had a big impact there?
Thanks!
Some national legislation, policies, federal agency jurisdiction, funding/grants in particular still impact the VI.
Please... not this topic again!
Alana33's attachment has hammered this into the ground.

LOL!
But we can talk about how national government affects us without mentioning He Who Must Not Be Named. right?
For instance
any new tax plan will affect us here.
any changes to SS or Medicare will affect us here.
any new military actions will affect our military residents here.
any altered banking regulations affect us here.
And so forth. So, at least in the circles I'm in, we do pay close attention to what's going on nationally, as well as locally.
Thanks Scubadoo & Watruw8ing4 for answering my question.
Thanks Alana33, I'll check out the linked thread.
Geez Singlefin! Can you cut me some slack? The thread Alana33 referred me to is titled "Congratulations to our new 45 President Donald Trump...................................." No reason I can think of that anyone would look there for information about what aspects of, and to what degree national politics are felt in the USVI.
My concern is how any topic here involving politics, 99% of the time, gets derailed and blown completely out of whack.
The "congratulations" thread was just one of many examples.
