I needed to know what kind of dog food I will have access to. What seems to be the most popular.

There was recently quite a bit of info on dog food in a long thread - if you go to the top to the search feature and type in "dog food" on this forum, I think you will find it. Which island, and is there any particular brand you are attached to? It seems things varied from STT to STX.

The title says St. Croix. As I recall, STX has pretty much all the popular brands available. What do you feed your pets now?

Pardon. I was asleep at the wheel. In an effort to assist, I missed the biggest part....

Put them on the B.A.R.F. Diet - real food. Then you don't have to worry.

I have been feeding my dogs Cnicken Soup for the dog lovers for years now. It is a special brand--all natural really. I figure I won't be able to get it there so I want to start introducing a new brand slowly to my dogs. I have 8 weeks before the move. The sooner I get a new brand the better. what do you suggest brand wise?

I'm on St. Thomas but I've been very happy with Science Diet.

BARF while an excellent diet is quite a bit more expensive to do here on the islands then it generally is stateside. Something to think about if your dogs are on it and your planning to move here, you'll need to pad your budget a little more.

Chicken Soup is available at Superior Pet Supply in Princess, as well as Wellness.

Agreed, but it depends. If you buy the pre package BARF diet, yes it will be costly, if you learn how to cook for your pet (buying vegetables, brown rice, cottage cheese, tuna and meats on sale), it can work.

It is definitely a COMMITTMENT! My Golden Retriever, has suffered from seizures since 1 and 1/2 years old. Since i started her on this, 6 months - she has only had 1 seizure! She is now 4 and 1/2 years old. I have dreams of breeding her.

We have to remember, dogs were once wolves, they ate game - their organs, intensines etc. This is how they should still be eating. Not any different then us humans!

If we got rid of all the processed crap in our diets, America WOULDN'T BE FAT!

It is a choice you make.

Cheers,
Cameron

campilates....meat, tuna and vegetables are usually much more expensive here....that's what kills you on the barf diet here. I was not speaking of the prepackaged barf, didnt know hat existed. I'm not saying don't do it, just saying be prepared for cost.
