when would be a good time to move when I would be able to find a place to live within a couple weeks, have a relatively normal priced stay while I'm looking for a place to live, and find a job? Are there better months to come down? I guess in the summer it is harder to find a job, right? I just want to be there before next season starts so I can have plenty of time to get my bearings, be comfortable in my job, find a decent place to live and hopefully meet a few people I can hang out with.

Hello KrisG,

Yes summer is generally harder to find work in seasonal jobs because its off season.

What island are you planning to move to - this affects the answers to your questions?

I was planning on moving to St. Thomas. I have lots of experience as a server/hostess and in customer service in different areas. With all the restaurants, bars and hotels I figured I would be able to find a job within a couple weeks to a month. I just want to pick the best time to come down when I can both find an apartment and a job within that amount of time, and also have a relatively cheap place to stay for that month that I will be looking. What month would be the best time to do that? I will also not have a car, as mine is not even worth the 1000 to bring it to the island. I talked to someone who used to live in St. Thomas and she said to try the east end and downtown area for places to live and work where I could walk. Is this correct?
