Hubby and I are considering a job offer in USVI. We currently live around Austin. I have several questions that I could not find the answers to. We have 3 young boys, the oldest is 3 1/2 years, then 2 years and the baby is 1 year. What kind of activities, besides the beach do they have? Do the Dr's have the same training as on the mainland? One of our children has minor health problems. We have a conversion van. Would it be better to trade it in on a smaller car before we transport it over? How are the medical facilities, mainly the ER? Can they handle trauma? If not, where do they transfer to? I am sure that I have a thousand other questions, but htis will suffice for now. Thanks for the help! Kecia

Hello Kecia,

Which island? This will affect the answers to pretty much all the questions you asked.

Kecia,

Great questions! I posted a less-detailed message last week about moving to STT with kids, but failed to ask those important questions. We have a 1 1/2 year old daughter, also with minor health problems, and are interested in the health care in the USVI. I understand from reading the information on this website and other websites that there are hospitals on St. Tomas & St. Croiux, but some major surgerical procedures may need to be performed elsewhere. I am interested to learn more about the quality of pediactic care in the USVI, as well as ER capabilities.

As Islander asked, which island are you moving to?

Ansley
