Moving to the USVI
I'm a 54 year old woman working in Washington DC....I've had it....my dream has always been to move to the USVI....just like everyone else on the planet....I am going to make this happen...so any advice would be most welcome....right now I work for the Government (Judiciary) as a paralegal......I really don't want much...just to be able to make a living and slow down in a place that makes me feel like I am home....I know it's more expensive on St. John....and I don't drive.....is this impossible?......
JerI: You might want to check to see if you can transfer to the Dept of Justice here, just a thought. If you don't drive here, life will be more difficult. However, you may be able to hire a private driver.
I am checking first gov. jobs down there.....if that works out...great...if not...I wil find something else....and what about scooters for getting around?
Too dangerous, IMHO.
If you can drive a scooter, you can drive a car! Scooters are not a good idea for your main transportation- the roads are narrow, twisty and steep. Other drivers do not look for scooters. When it rains it is slick. How would you get your groceries and other large items home? A car gives you some protection from the elements and the other drivers!
If the gov deal doesn't work, there are frequently paralegal positions posted. I think that after tourism, law is the next largest sector of the economy!
Lawyers, then realtors!!
Paralegals with good skills are very sought after here. Good luck!
