Woke up to 4 new inches of snow today. It looked so beautiful, then I drove my truck through it. I think I will keep dreaming of a White sandy beach Christmas next year. I guess a person must realize they are getting older when you start to feel the cold in your bones.

What's the temp on island today ?

I get to play with my snow blower tomorrow. I can feel it now,the wind blows the lovely cold powder right in my face. I am very sure, I would rather be diving in tropical waters.

Rub it in ,rub it in. I have about a foot of new snow and a snow blower just itching to be fired up. It is lovely nice white powder snow,so it always blows right back into your face ! I think I would enjoy an early morning dip in the Caribbean a whole lot better.

Hey chockman, no dip in the Caribbean today! Miserable weather. I haven't looked at any of the weather sites, or TV, but this is some sort of system blowing through. Lots of rain, misty, cloudy, murky kind of stay in bed with a good book day (if you can)!

I had to go out, so I put on long pants, long sleeve shirt and a rain jacket. Must have been below 70 degrees this morning.

Well I should be OK. I am bringing my jeans. I won't ride the Motorcycle in shorts and Flip flops. I guess I will wear jeans to work and change once I get there. How windy was it yesterday ? I guess it had to be pretty windy to shut down airports. Are the Christmas winds on time this year ? The last time we were on island, they were running a little late.

I am definitely wrapped in a blankie, laying on the couch, watching the grey, dark wet weather outside. We had to drive to Plaza this morning and visibility was horrible! So glad I don't have to go anywhere else today!

I drove down to Stumpy bay today. The surf looks amazing - I took a few photos but they don't really convey it well. On the way back my jeep got stuck, thought I was going to have to leave it there on a trail but got out eventually. I think its pretty nice outside.

I have not driven down to Stumpy in years - but when we used to go there-- if it started to rain we left in a hurry as the road became a river in short order. How far down to the beach can you access - would you do it in a non 4 wheel drive - on a nice day?

I got all the way down to the beach, didn't drive onto the actual beach of course.

The road is actually better than the one to Nettljeberg or Caret bay, but still tough and has the usual water ditch which is very deep in a few places. At one point while I was stuck the rear axle was under such an angle that left wheel was pushing up on the wheel well, and right one was "hanging" and also pointing inward. I was probably not too far from tipping over. Finally I figured to put enough sticks and brush under the wheels and then jump out pedal to the floor. Good timing - it did start to rain a bit after that, not much but certainly enough to make it very slick.
I don't do this to my Jeep more than once every couple of weeks, it's my main car.

So bottom line - it is passable in a decent 4x4 while dry, and not even so bad - but don't go when wet, and Jeep Liberty is marginal for it.

But the beach looks amazing - big surf, wind, and not a soul around. A bit eerie.

P.S. On the other hand the first part of the road (down to the driveway to the last house) is dirt but passable in a regular car. So you can drive down there, park and then the walk down is fairly short - you'd get down faster on foot than in a 4x4 🙂 I plan to do it that way next time. It is the shortest of the trails to west-side bays.

Well the 4 inches of snow turned out to be a 12 inches. I was having fun with the snow blower, slinging the stuff everywhere. I accomplished about half of our drive way and wouldn't you know it. This damn Briggs and Stratton 6 horse motor has a dip stick to check the oil and two additional plugs on ether side. Of course it would not be the one on the exhaust side that falls out, that would have thrown oil on the muffler and any idiot would have noticed something out of place. Nope it just kept dumping oil out the other side like their was nothing wrong at all. Nothing wrong at all, until the damn piston froze to the side of the cylinder.

Let me see here, $450.00 for a new motor and that only includes my labor or I could spend $600.00 and just buy another one again.
So the hell with it,I called the guy with a snow plow on his truck and spend $60.00 to have the driveway plowed. SIGNS,SIGNS EVERYWHERE SIGNS. It must someone from above telling me to relocate as soon as possible to St Croix. I am not doing this winter crap again. Does anyone need a slightly used self propelled snow blower down there. Honestly I will let it go real cheap.

I am going to a bar right down the road tonight,Steak and Crab legs, New Year special. They had better enjoy my company while they can, just kidding I have known the owners for years, besides where I live,it is the only game in town. Watch out St Croix, I'M going to sick my inner Hillbilly,Biker loose on Island. Thankfully for me, I have learned how to slow down.
