Moving to STX in the middle of June
congrats and i knew you would like Pam-she is awesome
If you're looking for a car we are planning on selling our CRV for 4k that's after we find anothe car so might be good timing of your looking for a good island car.
crap appreciate the offer but I've already just bought a car so I have my housinraand transportation situated however innovative and Bbvi do not offer InternetBat my place looks like choice is the only other option does anyone know of anything else because I have only heard bad things about choice
I use Choice now, switched over to it about 2 months ago. I was using an At&T hotspot, which worked great, buy they were billing me for "usage" that I didn't use.
Choice isn't bad. We can stream movies and TV shows, mostly without issue. My son, who is a "gamer", is visiting for the summer, at first even he found it "acceptable", however about two weeks ago they started upgrading their system, during the upgrade there have been serious issues, more for him with it being very slow. Other than a couple of times during this process I have not had an issue with working.
When asked about when they will be done with the upgrade, their response yesterday was "By the end of next week we should be able to give you a date for when we will be done."
I moved here last December, welcome to STX!!!!
I have choice & it is not great. I have heard that VI broadband is better, tho pricier. I also hear that a good smartphone from att or sprint can make the whole internet issue a moot point.
I ended up having to to with choice, it seems like most of the time it works for watching hulu and netflix so I guess that will be that for now.
DMV process was educational, insurance was a breeze but apparently covers nothing except keeps me legal on the road - car was apparently not worth enough even for comprehensive and the cost of the grocery stores is CRAZY! I knew it was going to be higher for most things if not everything but some things are outrageous. The one that baffles me is for things that have incredibly long shelf life (like mustard) are still really pricey. From what I have been told I need to hit the different stores to figure out what is cheaper where because so far I have just been to plaza extra.
Other than that things have been going smoothly, meeting some nice people and just driving around trying to figure out the lay of the land. There is a rooster who seems to wander around by my house and we aren't getting along too well =)
Thanks again to everyone on this board - it made it much easier to get an idea of what life would be like when moving down especially without a PMV.
Kmart has grocery staples that might be cheaper. Check out cost u less also. Plaze wezt and east have different prices
Congrats and continued good luck on your move.
Unfortunately, high grocery prices and roaming, noisy roosters are
the downside to living here. Shop around as prices vary from place
to place.
I bought a trap for any chickens and roosters roaming on my property. I hand them off to a farmer that has a 4 sided, no escape enclosure near my location. Those energizer bunny roosters that crow every 8 seconds for 8 hours starting at 3AM are the worst.
Where did you end up finding a rental? Was it a house or apartment or condo? I'm going nuts finding an acceptable place. Starting to feel like I'm being too picky... We are ending up staying with a friend for the month while we continue to look.
