Can anyone give me any advice on finding pet - friendly accommodation in St Thomas? I hope to be moving there late November with my two spitz dogs (27 & 30lbs).Thanks!

Hello Sue,

Finding apartments/condos here is a matter of being on the island and looking in the classifieds, looking for 'For Rent' signs road side, looking at bulletin boards, asking people, using a property manager or realtor. The latter option can be used to find a place from away, but it’s a good idea to see the place before signing anything to make sure its what you want, where you want.

That said finding an apartment that allows pets is difficult, dogs being more difficult than cats and multiple dogs being even more difficult. Not impossible but tough. Late November is when a lot of seasonal people start coming down so apartments get snatched up quickly.

There really isn't any set how to in terms of finding a pet-friendly place; the search is the same for those without a pet. Come down, stay in a small hotel or inn while finding an apartment.

Another note, most hotels/inns don't allow pets. The one that comes to mind I believe only allows small dogs.

Any chance you could leave the dogs with family or friends back home while you come down and find a place and then return for them or have a friend fly down with them.

There have been a few people that lucked out and found a nice, pet friendly place prior to coming down via networking, calls, luck... so you can keep looking and hoping.

Good Luck.
