Moving to St Thomas...... Assistance on aisle Three
Hi everyone
great board you have going here. I've read most of the posts, but afew more questions. I will be on STT the first week of Nov and need to know a good (Cheap) place to stay till i can figure out the apartment thing. As far as a job I am a very expierenced waiter / bartender, anyone here have any food service industry connections and/or/ advice. I was considering on living and working in Charlotte Amalie because I'm not hauling my car to STT. Is this a good area to live in? What are some of the resorts and popular bars and restaurants that I could call or even apply online with. Thank you very much for your time, and lets all get together when i get down there. E-mail me and we'll chat.
Til then,
Derek
Hello Derek,
Charlotte Amalie covers a large area, but I figure you mean downtown - its a densely developed residential and commericial area - some folks like it and others do not. If you are working downtown then its of course convienient to be in the downtown area. Red Hook is another area with many restaurants and also quite a few hotels/resorts in the East End... so that is another area worth considering. You will want to be close to the main areas as to have access to the bus and dollar safari routes. Not many bars do their hiring on-line...often you have to save some $ and make the move without the job lined up and then once on island visit some bars and restaurants and apply for work... this is best done at the start of season. Ritz Carlton has online application for resort jobs.

Duffy's Love Shack will also hire on line - www.duffysloveshack.com - or at least start the interview process by phone/email
