I currently live in DC, and I am interested in relocating to St. Croix. Other than bringing enough cash with me to make this move, what other key tips can you help a sister with? What is the real estate market and job market like for a non-islander? What is the single life like?

Buy the two books: Life in the left lane, and the Settlers Handbook. Both very informative.
Go to the home page , go to what to expect and read the 33 stories.
GO FOR A VISIT OR TWO OR THREE, before deciding to just up and move.

Oh, I forgot to add, go through all 219 pages of this message board. There is very valuable information from many different perspectives.

I bought the two books mentioned above (Life in the left lane, and the Settlers Handbook.) Both have been VERY helpful. I purchased them on this website. I also agree about reading this message board! I read it everyday and it has really helped me plan my move!

Hello,
Scroll to the top of this page and click on Home on the left side and then choose Real Estate from the home page. What type of jobs? Government jobs are often difficult for non-islanders to get because of the buddy system/nepotism that exists. Single life for what age range?

The real estate market depends on what you're looking for. To purchase or to rent? House or condo? Price range? In some categories, there is a lot to choose from and in others you sit and watch for something to come available and jump on it when it appears.
