Have you decided which island yet? Each one has its own personality. I know for certain on St Croix the answer is yes if you are properly prepared for your move. Check out the home page of this board for more ideas.

Hello Huhnna,

The people here are generally nice yes. There are cultural attributes that take getting used for someone not familiar with it. ie. You must say Good Morning, Afternoon, Good Day or Goodnight before anything else - before a question, before a comment, before saying how are you... in many situations it makes a huge difference it terms of reception. Most are a bit cautious at first which can be taken as being cold or standoffish... not so just a period of getting to know what you are about... after that period they are great friends. All walks of life are here yes. There are rude people here don't get me wrong but in general we are nice people.

As Ric and Linda said - do your research and be prepared... its in your best interest to insure a successful move by being aware of what the islands are like and plan and prepare for it. Read through this board, the moving guide on this site and even some of the visitor vacation sections also get some reading material - the Settlers Handbook is a good choice, newspapers, a picture book... material for you to look through so you get as much information as possiable. The Settlers can be seen at http://www.vitraders.com

All the best.
