Hello islanders,

I think that it is great that you guys are so willing to lend out helpful ideas to all of us who want to become part of the magical island life. So to begin with thanks. I am a single 23 yr old male. I have a degree in turfgrass/golf course management. I am curently fulfilling my internship duties at a country club in atlanta, georgia. I plan on visiting the isles, and talking to some courses about superintendent or asst. superintendent positions. I will even be a regular crew member for a while if need be. The only courses I can locate now are Buccaneer GC, Carambola CG, and Mahogany Run GC. If anyone has more courses on islands or any other helpful info , Iam open ears to all advice. And thanks again for all ur help. If this message board is any indicator to what kind of people their, I can't wait to join you all. oh yeah I'm a Parrot Head to. Go Jimmy Buffett, going to see him April 24th.

THANKS<
Cale Priddy

The usvi are not well known for their quality golf courses. Good luck with your career in turf managment. We could use that skill here....Yes you have found most of the courses in the usvi. the only one you have missed is the 9 hole reef course on the east end of St Croix. (a bit rocky)...The chance of getting on with any of these courses is "slim or none"...BUT..don't give up without trying. You might say the right thing at the right time. I met a chap last month on the Buccaneer course who was serving as a marshall who had the experience to be much more. We could use some people who could improve the bermuda greens all around the islands.

Cale,
Fax me a resume to 340-776-4468 and I'll post it on the bulletin board where about 90 boat captains can see it ... try faxing one ot 340-775-3590 and ask them to put it on thier bulletin board as well. Include as much boating/sailing experience as you can on it. Also, with your turf managment experience try applying to the landscaping departments at some of the larger hotels, they spend a tremendous amount of money on landscaping and irrigation projects ... never know.
Best of luck,
Pamela.

To: the ISLANDER or anyone else who can help

I'm looking to move to St. Thomas around early July/late June. I have a background in education and computers. For a couple years I worked as a line/prep cook. If anyone can point me in the direction I would appreciate. Please e-mail me at SScDave@yahoo.com with any information. Put in your subject line "Info on St. Thomas".

Also, any info on apartments or rooms for rent would be helpful.

Thanks,

Dave

Hello Dave,

For education positions try the public and private schools for openings. For public school system go to http://www.teachislands.vi/
and for private schools go to the education section of this web site http://vimovingcenter.com/schools/ and then choose each island the private schools are listed together and those with web sites are links - check the web sites for job openings and application instructions. Restaurant work you would need to contact some resorts or restaurants - you could look up restaurants in the yellow pages http://www.viphonebook.com and call - see if anyone is interested in having you fax your resume. All the best.
