moving there in august
after a lot of consideration, my wife and I have decided to move to st croix in August. although it seems that most people are trying to leave the island, we've both managed to secure jobs, and it's a great time for us to try it out (no kids or mortgage, and she grew up there) I follow this forum religiously and have gained so much insight from all of the users here. any more advice or information anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. (how easy is it to find a car, banks, and other big stuff we'll need to start our life there)
Welcome Colavitoj!
We've lived here for a year and a half. Hope you love it here as much as we do.
Hi colavitoj !
My wife and I will be moving to STT within the year. Please post any comments. surprises, negatives and positives along your journey!
Good luck! 😎
Cola....we wish you well.
Just make sure you don't buy right away when you arrive, so you can exit if it comes to that.
The island economy hasn't begun to bottom out and there are very likely more dominos to fall in the wake of Hovensa's closing, and more govt layoffs. That and the fact that many come and then leave for a variety of good reasons as well as bad.
I moved to St Crox 3 months ago and love it. Not a regret. There are things to learn so keep your eyes and ears open. Mostly bring your patience and sense of humor. I agree rent. As a renter you will be in the drivers seat when it comes to deals. We scored a great place. We may never buy again. There is a certian beauty to call the lanlord when something breaks.
already got the rental set up. we're planning to reevaluate after a year and if we like it at that point, we might consider buying
Most people are NOT trying to leave the island...although we have some people who need to be voted off the island 😀

Awesome - The tribe has spoken. Can we start with a few obnoxious senators?
Seriously though, I think this is a good time to consider coming to St. Croix. Out of adversity comes opportunity. You'll have no problem meeting folks and finding your way around. It will take some adjustment from the 24x7 availability of goods and services on the mainland, and our bureaucracy breeds inefficiency, but once you get past these things it is a wonderful place to call home.
welcome to STX. Did i understand you already have a place to rent?
If not, I have a 3bd- house in judith's fancy available.
best wishes for your new start.
We need to set up a newbie meet and greet sometime soon here on STX.
there should be a lot of places to rent here now
