we are considering a move from San Antonio, TX to St. Thomas with an almost 13-year-old Golden Retriever and a 10 year old cat. I am worried sick about getting the dog there. please give me some advice and possibilities.

Cats are easier to travel with. You pet carrier must be a carry-on and no longer that 19" for most airlines. The Golden Retriever is a bit large for a carry-on. You might want to check with the airlines. I carried a cat with me from Iowa and it's ticket was $80 dollars.

thanks Rita. was planning on taking the cat on the plane with me. if only I could buy the dog a seat I would! he's just so old that I am really worried about him. of course I will check with the airlines and they will assure me they do it all the time but I will still be worried sick.

I looked into chartering a plane thru Air Florida and found it to be a bit to expesive for me. I would almost need to fill out the 9 people max to make it worth my while. I think Cindy got a better deal. They did say though that if something came up and they had something scheduled around the time I want to go that they would call me and I could tag along at a very reduced fare. Not holding my breath but it is still an option.
I don't know what you are willing to spend or how many people that could get together but you could give a call. They seemed very nice and helpfull. (954) 359-7897

Well it seems Air Florida Isn't such a good choice for chartering a trip to St Thomas.

Cindy called me today to give me a trip report, and it seems her pilot opened the cockpit door over Puerto Rico and said you have two minutes to put on your life jackets we are ditching in the water. It seems he ran the plane out of gas somewhere over Puerto Rico where they were able to glide in and make a safe landing at an airport.

I'd look elsewhere for a charter to the Islands.
