Moving My Dog
I know that the temperatures at the place the dog is departing from or arriving to has to be below 85 but I was wondering if anyone could give me a general idea of which months are best for flying my dog down. He's going to stay with my mom until we find a place to live and I wanted to give her a general idea of when she was getting her free trip to bring him to us.
Thanks for the help.
I would suggest having your mother fly in the cooler months of October , November and December, but bear in mind that the city of origin also has temperature requirements on the low end...not sure what they are. I also would suggest American Airlines as from many posts it seems that they really are the most pet-friendly. We researched this for many months before our move and finally chose Continental from Newark (a long drive from our home) for an August move with our dog, a 12 year old springer spaniel, due to their air conditioned cargo transport for dogs. . I would just say, don't use Continental. I won't go into the whole story, but will just say that our dog never made it here (due to arbitrary policy from a Houston supervisor, not transport conditions) and it was devastating.
I'm sorry that things didn't work out the best for you but I appreciate you sharing the info to help others making plans. I didn't want to spend a bunch of time on the phone trying to arrange things now because we still have a couple of months but just trying to get a general idea of when we could fly him down. Thanks!
