Moving FROM the VI TO Florida
Hey guys! I've been scrolling through the post and have found many different post about moving to the VI but not much about move from. I'm planing a big move from STT to Florida hopefully in January and I guess I'm just looking for some advice on shipping my stuff. What company (if any) do we have in the VI that provides these services?
P.s I love the VI it's home I just found a better job opportunity in the states 🙂
Thanks again!
I'm in the same boat.
Think I'm going to give Viking a call as need someone to pack up stuff to deliver to ship but not sure who I'm going to use to ship as yet. I'll begin to actively investigate that starting next month.
The average time that I've been told between shipping your belongings and delivery is 3 weeks.
I'll let you know what I I discover but you may have to send me a PM reminder.
Let me know what you discover as well.
there seems to have been a thread about this very subject maybe within the past year.
Thanks! Much appreciated and sure I will keep u in the loop
I live in Florida. What area are you two moving to?
I'll be in Lady Lake.
Oh I know where that is Alana33! Do you like hiking or camping by any chance? You are close to Ocala National Forest with lots of good options!!!
Yep.
It'll be nice to explore the Ocala National Forest. I love kayaking too.
Plus it'll be nice to be close to family members who will be 10 minutes
from my location.
Viking was excellent. I had my stuff shipped here from Mass, and Viking did an awesome job getting everything here safely. I'm sure it works the other way as well. I did find they are very busy, so I had to wait a few days before they could deliver my stuff to the apartment after it arrived.
Orlando
Do you hv a contact for them??
In phone book.
Don't have number available right now.

Thank you !!
Idlewood may still have some boxes left from her move.
I took some.
Viking Corporation 340-776-1536.
There are quite a few packers/movers in yellow pages.
Good friends recently moved from STT to Delaware and used Crowley for shipping and said they were great. They moved the entire contents of their house and then some. Said it cost about 10K for their container load, tho.
Viking, Flemings and O'Neale's offer free estimates for packing/moving so will probably contact all 3 for estimates.
Oops, just noticed Flemings only services STX.
Who is idlewood (lol sorry new to this) && 10K for a container, omg that's a new car!!!
Idlewood posted on this thread. See above.
Just moved here, recently, and had a good experience with Viking.
You can PM her to ask about boxes.
See the PM link next to poster's name.
That's the way to contact people on the forum.
My friends did move their entire household and then some.
I'm buying a car there and leaving my truck here as I'll have to be back and forth a bit before I make the decision to make it a permanent move/or not.
Haven't yet gotten any quotes.
I need a company that packs loads, unloads, ships, delivers and unloads at final destination.
I'll be in Lady Lake.
Alana,
Are you moving to The Villages?
No. Not my cuppa tea but sisters live there and I'll be just 10 minutes away in a nice, older neighborhood where everyone is on a half acre or more.
Plus, it was much less expensive than buying in Villages and got more for the money.

Just adding, the VI phonebook, is at http://www.viphonebook.com. Useful for finding anything in the Virgin Islands yellow pages. PS: All the businesses are grouped together in the yellow pages, not separated by island. Until you get familiar with what numbers are assigned to which island, and area names on each island; its good to double check when you call to see what island they are on. The government section is separated by island.
Just set up my account with Florida's Duke Energy for when my tenants move out (sellers are renting back from me) so that there would be no interruption in service. Couldn't have been easier. Coincidentally, the woman helping me was from STT.
I also set up an account for internet service thru them with Comcast for 75mbps for $49.95 per month.
Wow! Beats the heck out of price I'm paying here for way more speed.

(tu) Amazing what you can do on line and never have to stand in a line.
No kidding!
Not to mention you can have them install a surge protector ($49.95) for your incoming power (which is already installed on my house there) and a nominal fee to protect your appliances and electronics in event of surges or lightning strikes.
It's a fully functional utility and they offer a lot of programs for the consumer!
No deposit and didn't have to give a credit card number to set anything up.
