Hey all,

I am pondering relocating to St. Thomas for at least the summer. Can anyone give any advice on finding an apartment or what typical rents are and how hard it is to find a waitressing/ tourism seasonal job? I can be emailed at MC015@aol.com. Thanks

Try Alaska for the summer, and then come to St. Thomas for our season, which is your winter.

Sheesh that is a bit harsh. You can definitely find a job because everyone has left and people are desperate. HOWEVER, your tips won't be what they would be in high season.

So yes you can find a job and an apt pretty easily but you won't make the good money.

The Island Trader is the best way to find an apartment. Many people on island will not rent to you until you are on island. But some will, so give it a shot.

go to the VI Daily News Site

http://www.virginislandsdailynews.com

Then click on the Island Trader Link under special supplements.

If you have no luck with the island trader, try talking to ronnie on this site, he has longer short term rentals available at

http://www.villafairview.com/

he always seems to help alot of the newbies.

Also try rochelle ellicks place, she is a sweet lady.

Good Luck, and please do tons of research before you make the big move. Try to read the entire message board, it will be your best resource.
