move to St. Croix
My wife and I will be moving to St. Croix for a job transfer in late April. Looking for a 30-60 secure condo rental while we search for long term rental or purchase. Unfortunately we will not be able to make a site visit before the move to secure a place.
Can anyone help with contact information, coming to the island cold?
I would recommend Queste Verde condominiums. Joe Thayer from coldwell banker was my realtor and I was happy with him.but any realtor can help you, I believe they all use the same listings.
Queste Verde is gated, secure, you wont need to get a PO box because mail can be delivered to the condos, that will save you at least one headache. It is mid price ranged, It is very convienently located mid-island about a 5 min, drive to Christiansted, shopping, restaurants and grocery store. They also have a beautiful, very large swimming pool. I stayed there my first year and was very happy there. The only problem I can foresee is that all the units are decorated , furnished and udated differently so definately ask for pictures.
Good luck and welcome to St. Croix

Agree with Terry. And add St. C to your list for consideration. Also gated, convenient location, and fantastic views and breezes. Chris can show you units there.

Is St. C the name of the complex?
STC has a website............................WWW.STCCONDO, gated security, condo include innovative cable and water.
Good spot if you can find one for 30-90 days' ST C is located midisland which makes it convenient.
Good luck.
Any questions, private message me as I will do the best I can to answer and help.
hello. wife and i moved here 3/1. we had previously visited for 3 days to secure a rental. not sure i would recommend st c or many other places often talked about on here. depends what you are looking for. we are a retired for now couple, both professional. nothing extravagant but like a quiet good life. we found a good realtor with decent rentals. i tried to contact the realtors mentioned to you on this forum with no reply, very out of date listings. life and getting simple things done here very different. if you would like our experiences as a reference feel free to contact us and i would be happy to point out safe, decent places to live which offer value for money. we have a 1/1/ detached cottage, king bedroom, private pool, nicely furnished in a gated community for 1400 a month plus utilities. start with your phone service, transfer to at&t, (only one that works), keep your own numbers, get internet with them, all local service as is in mainland. more info as requested---mark&maggie.

I'm curious why you wouldn't recommend St C or others mentioned. I find St C to be a really nice, friendly, quiet and safe place, and also know Chris Powers is one of the most service-oriented professionals on the island.

Call Karyn at Blue Sky realty. She has turn key condos with TV power etc 3407191409
Why not Shelba?? I think newbs are perfect to give advice to other newbs. I think that many times peole who have been here a long tome have outdated info or may have forgotten some of the important things or out of touch with the changes that can occur on the islands. IMO.
I dont believe Kim, does any work with short terms but I HIGHLY recommend Kim Lucas for your long term. You will love her.
@Aand A Yes, I agree. May have been a little harsh.Im starting to sound like one of the old timers.. All levels of transients, locals, and residents have valuable information and different experiences to offer and share.. but after 3 days, not sure if that is enough time to evaluate location advice.
It really comes down to personal opinion and choice. Wha tworks for one pwers may not work for another.
We have a lovely villa available at the Reef Golf Resort! Secure, and safe, first tier on the golf course. PM me for more details and pictures!
Thanks,
Kris
the reef have nice little condos. nice area, pool, golf course. they are oddly shaped. the one bedrooms are really tiny but the 2 bedrooms are a good size. even though they are oddly shaped they are nice. i think all have patios
We have a villa at the Reef Golf Resort, which is closer to a townhome than a condo. A condo has someone above or below you like an apartment. Ours is 1000 sq ft which is not tiny. We find our one bedroom quite spacious. It does have two patios, front and back. We are first tier on the driving range. It is lovely, quiet and the development is secure!
The Reef is quite far East, a long way from shopping etc
The Reef is Far East?
The Reef is a nice community, and offers really nice views of Buck Island. But I agree with Terry--it's far (relatively speaking) from shopping and other parts of the island. I live there for two winters and, although I liked the community and accommodations, it was just too far to drive every time I wanted to go to the West End or North Shore, or to Sunny Isle or Christiansted. (Driving nearly an hour across the island on a Sunday night after spending all day at Rainbow Beach, or 20 minutes each way to go to the gym every day, got old fast!)
That said, if you plan to spend most of your time out east, and just need to come to town for groceries, it probably isn't a big deal.
Bernie
We just go out for groceries or entertainment or shopping to Christiansted and the drive is no big deal for us! I guess there are trade offs, The Reef has a lot to offer, including, safety, quiet, golf, the lovely pool, The Reef Beach, tennis courts. It is a great place to live! The Reef also has its own fitness center, now so no need to drive to a gym!
Our old house is near the Reef, in Cotton Valley. I shopped at Food town or Food Fair, went into Kmart/CostULess once a week, did other shopping in Gallows Bay. We ate dinner typically in Christiansted (big fans of Savant) and went often to what used to be Good Spirits in front of the Reef - soon to be something else (if not already), I'm sure. East End is a great place to be without going West too often, if you like East. But if your heart is in West (Rainbow, Fsted, rainforest, etc) then you should live closer to that end of the island. This is why a PMV (or two) is really important to figure out where you want to live. 🙂
I love it west and couldn't imagine living east, but I guess it comes down to why you are moving here and for what reasons.
all parts of the island are beautiful. most people i work with live out west and love it, i live in town, would love to live east because of the quiet.
depending on traffic, getting from one end of the island to the other can take an hour or so.
Don't forget mid-island on STX.
You get the best of both East & West with a short drive either way.
Services are close and readily available.
Enjoy it all!
BTW, Kim Lucas @ http://www.retireinthevi.com, is the BOMB!
CD
There are some great deals on condos on North Shore right now. Several friends moving there, lovely views. 🙂
Yep. Mid-island for me. I can travel east or west on weekends for outings but I like the convienience of living near shopping, restaurants and work for me and the school for my kids.
