Do you guys sleep with mosquito netting. Should I bring one with me, or are they available there reasonably priced - Thanks

Barbra,
Depends on where you are staying and the time of year. I sleep with one but we live high up and mosquito's still think I am the tastiest thing on island. If the accomodations require a net, they will normally supply it but they are available on island inexpensively.

Pamela, you got it all wrong! YOU'RE not the tastiest thing on the island - they all seem to be at MY house!!!!!! LOL! Well, maybe I'm the East End feast and your the North Side one!

Where do you find mosquito netting on the island? I found an over the bed one on Pier One Imports for like $18. I think. Would love to get one locally so I can put it to use soonest.

Barbra - I would definately hook up your local Avon lady and get some Skin-So-Soft Insect Repellant before you come - to handle the no-seeums!

Can someone advise where to buy mosquito net? my boyfriend hasn't been able to find a place to buy it on the island and I'd rather not spend even more money shipping it there before i arrive. thanks!

Speaking of Skin So Soft, if anyone is interrested, I know a girl who sells it super cheap online! Her name is Kim and you can email her at kcr67@bellsouth.net. She ships US and internationally! Hope I've helped!

Thanks Amanda - I'll check Kim out - good resource I hope, since I'd rather slather on Skin-So-Soft rather than an insect repellant - would prefer not to have to slather on anything, but would also rather not be visited by no-seeums!

Amanda, I just tried to e-mail Kim, and the e-mail address that you noted will not send - error message is to the effect - no match found. Can you check her e-mail address possibly. Thanks

I have purchased over the bed mosquito nets at Cloth Horse but they were $75-80 but worked great. Wasn't able to find any cheaper on line.

My net came from a little place in St. John. Can't remember the name but it is next door to Duffy's. This was last year so I don't know if they still have them or not.

I never used one. After about my 1000th mosquito bite, they stopped thinking I tasted good.

Then again, we lived on the South side where they are not so numerous, and my bedroom is air-conditioned, so we could keep all the doors closed.

Another option is to get sheer tie-top or tab-top curtains and a canopy bed and use those, with a piece of netting over the top of the canopy (or another sheer)....I find the clingy mosquito nets make me claustrophobic.

I've found mosquito nets on Ebay for about $15. Sounds like I should definitely come equiped. The bug repellent is on sale at avon.com right now.

I think its new stuff. You can buy it for $15 or just bid for less, shipping is $10 which increases the cost. I looked up history on the seller and everyone's very happy with their net. I might try it and I'll keep everyone posted.

Is there a Pier One on the island or should I bring it with us?

I would bring it with you. You can use it as packing material for your delicate stuff. 😉
