Mosquito Help
Another thing to try...I'm allergic to everything (my husband says I'm allergic to planet earth) and a friend recommended I try Jurgens hand lotion - cherry almond scent. I works! I'm not sure why but the mosquitos hate it and it doesn't stink like bug spray. I used it for a few months and now don't use anything and rarely get a bite.
Well, my hubby says the skitters don't bite him because he eats so much hot sauce. But, the thing that has worked best for our house is the purchase of the mosquito magnet. It was an investment and takes about $30 per month to run but I hardly ever see mosquitoes in the house anymore, and we can sit out on our balcony without getting ate alive.
We bought some kind of a zapper to kill the flying critters - we plugged it in and it worked great. But, our dog was terrified of it and kept crawling under our bed. She's 65 pounds and forced herself under the bed, then we had to figure out a way to get her out.
Does the mosquito magnet make the "zapping" noise? I'm assuming that you have to place it outside, correct?
But, the Listerine thing is working - I'm hoping that it's not temporary. I've been spraying the screens and doors with it daily and it seems to be helping!
A very nice lady in the BVI gave me a product that is safe for babies after she saw all of the bites on my son.
It is called "odomos" anti-mosquito cream It does seem to work well. have no idea where to get more. I have gone to thier wevsite and they do not list suppliers, distributors, or a way to order online, however maybe that has changed. I will give you all the info from the tube and if you are more successful than I and find a way to get some please post back and let me know
Odomos

Good luck8-)
The mosquito magnet doesn't work like a zapper. It is so quiet I can barely hear it. It is a bait and trap type system. It uses propane to create a simulation scent of humans/mammals once the mosquito comes to the bait it sucks them up into a bag. The get trapped in the bag and die. There are two different types. The more expensive one that I purchased works solely on propane and cover about a 1/2 acre radius. If I remember it was about $800 to $900. There is a little less expensive one that uses electric and propane. It covers less of a radius and has to be plugged in for the vacuum. One propane tank lasts about 21 days.
Here is there website: http://www.mosquitomagnet.com/
Tom Maloney sells them here on STT his number is 344-6921
The Mosquito Magnet saved my sanity. We ran out of the Lurex3 earlier this week (that is the attractant that it uses) and in 2 days they were so awful again it was ridiculous.
If you get a Mosquito Magnet, make sure to keep supplied with Lurex3, and keep an extra propane tank filled and ready !
I've used Thermacells many times while hunting in the marsh lands of Florida. They are simply amazing.
