more job related questions~ STT
anticipating our move next summer, the more thoughts and questions pop into my/our minds, so bear with me for yet another question!
does anyone either know someone or have personal experience working at one of the high end resorts as a server, bartender or lobby lounge server? assuming you present yourself well enough to be interviewed, how difficult is it to get a job there, are the tips generally great or is it better to get a server position at a busy intown restaurant? by high end i am meaning the Ritz & Marriott, are there others?
i live in naples florida now and we have 2 Ritz Carltons and know that the servers are making kick ass money during season. wondering if it would be the same on STT?
you all have been so helpful with my other questions, do you have more words of wisdom on this topic??

i saw that you are looking for work as a chef. we are going to be on st johns august 10-19. we are looking for somone to do the dinner cooking and washing up for the eight of us. is this something you would be interested in?
i would love to, but we are still stateside! we are doing our PMV in July.
but of course if you wanna spring for the airline ticket for August i will cook whatever you want, whenever you want! might even consider doing the laundry too 🙂
cheryl
sorry, i misunderstood. i thought you would be living there by august. thanks though.

Cheryl? Why would you want to leave beautiful Naples? My sister tells me it's as expensive to live there as here (St Thomas). lol I grew up in Naples, love going home to visit!!
Peggy~You just missed the Canoe Races this past weekend! Always a good time and it never stops amazing me how many "locals" still manage to get completely sunburned and look worse than the tourists...duh, sunscreen!!! yeah Naples is outrageously expensive too, so I'm not too nervous about the cost of living and the home prices on STT! If you grew up in Naples you know that it is changing way to fast
Question for everyone please~ is it acceptable to the Landlords/owners that the renter basically "sub-lease" the apartment to someone else for a period of time ( summer)? for instance, if we went back stateside for the summer could we have someone move in and assume the lease for that period of time?
Bill~ i just PM you with my contact info if you are interested in me cooking for you in the future!
hi from bonita springs, florida just up the road from you both. i have been here since 1979 and ready to get out of this mess southwest florida has become. i was raised in maine. hope to have all my ducks in a row and be on STX in october.
Cheryl,
Your answer to the question about sub-leasing all depends on the landlord...I have let my tenants sub-let the until while they are gone but they are still the ones responsible for the unit...not the ones who sub-let it.
