My wife and I plan to spend the month of January 2004 vacation with our family on St. Thomas. This will be our third visit to the island. We love St. Thomas and are looking at moving there soon.
CAR or Van Rental
Can anyone tell me where I can get the best rate on renting a 4 door car or van for a month? I have e-mail several car rentals and most say they do not have monthly rentals or do not answer your e-mail request. We are 58 year old mature drivers with no accident history.
Medical insurance
Can anyone tell me who to contact for the best price on a 30 day insurance plan incase one needs transported to the main land for and emergency?
Bugs
Has anyone found a good solution to keeping the little bugs from biting everyone while on vacation? The last time my wife had quite a few bug bites that were very unconfortable for her/

We have rented cars for a month or more several times. The rates were higher than we expected them to be. We paid just under $1000 for a 30 day rental of a compact 4door. I think it was like $895 plus fees and taxes. Several agencies quoted similar rates. I think we used budget on STT and Centerline on STX.

We just returned from St Thomas, we used Dependable Car Rental, got a great rate and service, they even prorated the extra days at the weekly rate, something the coporate co's would not do.
To keep the bugs off you, you might try vitamien E gel caps, 1000mgs. I grew up on St Croix on a sail boat and every day my mother would give me a cap to take. It coats your skin with an oil that the bugs dont like and I still use it today when ever we visit. I guess it doesnt hurt your complextion either.

We have used Judy of St Croix twice. We did not rent for a month, only a couple of weeks. They are unbelieveably easy to deal with. Their only advertising is on the web. You'll have to do a web search for them. We got a small sedan both times. I don't know if they have any other cars or not.
