Mild Hyperbaric treatment

With the rise in autism (and alternative treatments for it) has anyone heard of anyone on-island using mild hyperbaric treatments? It isn't a full hyperbaric chamber - it doesn't use pure O2 and doesn't pressurize more than 1.3 ATA (equiv to diving to 3 meters). I know for my fibromyalgia it made tremendous difference. One 40 minute treatment kept me pain free and brain fog free for 3 days.

I ask because stateside it is used quite a bit for autism and MS.

Just wondering.

What type of device is used for mild treatment? I've been told there is no regular hyperbaric chamber in STX or was it all of USVI? We just recently learned that hyperbaric chamber treatments show improvement of interstitial cystitis but since I don't know of any local options I haven't pursued it for our family.

Last I heard we have one on St Thomas, and there are some in Puerto Rico.

Here's a link to one I was looking at - is similar to the one I used for my Fibro.

and a couple links talking about what they're finding.

This is probably a dumb idea, but with our awesome water could you not just sit at 3 meteres for 40 minutes with dive gear and a scuba tank? May be easier and cheaper! I'm kind of joking, but also interested.

I never felt better than when I dived. But for people with other conditions - or even when I'm having a really bad time - you can't physically dive. And it's great for kids with autism or people with other neurologic conditions that wouldn't be able to dive.

did the have a oxygen enriched environment in the chamber? When diving you are normally just on compressed air. With Notrox, it has a elevated oxygen content.

Wow, thanks Linda. I never even thought of trying to buy a chamber as I would have assumed they cost 6-figures. This is an interesting option I'll have to discuss with the Mrs. and we may try to see if our health insurance will cover one for our son.
