*My husband is a cardiac patient with a pacemaker/defib. implant with three leads. Are there medical facilities to monitor the latest cardiac therapies?

Jean,

The local news reported that a new cardiologist had jolined the staff of the Roy Schneider Hospital. Dr. Roy D. Flood comes from Washington DC where he worked at one of the leading hospitals in the nation. It was reported that he is a specialist in treating clogged arteries to restore blood flow to the heart, but the interview I saw said he is also eager to bring new therapies to the territories. He also said he will work with doctors on St. Croix as well., but in a much more limited way.

You can reach Dr. Flood to learn more and see if he can handle your husband's health needs by calling the hospital at 340-776-8311.

Perhaps some longer-term residents know of other cardiologists that might be able to help you and your husband.

HC

Unfortunately, me tenant's father has had occasion this week to experience Dr. Flood's expertise. He is apparently very knowledgeable about modern methods. Will inquire to get you more info.

HC: Dr. Flood is our only cardiologist. You have a couple on St Croix. Actually, all of the heart people here were being airlifted over there until Dr. Flood started.

To Mrs. von Habsburg: You would definitely need to find out if the technology you need is available. There is no cardiac surgeon in the VI, for example, although they do some procedures on St Croix. Our last cardiologist used to check pacemakers and defibrillators.
