Went yesterday, more people then ever; but few floats, bands, etc. Anyone know what that was about? ?
It was very disappointing. Last year was so incredible. We left after a very sparse parade.
The parade was a big disappointment but the day was great. Tons of people, beautiful weather and lots of fun. I did hear they have already decided to go back to the old route (starting at Lavalle and ending at Cane Bay). I think that will make a big difference. I heard more than one person say they didn't participate because they didn't like the route this year.
ive been here for about 4 1/2 years and this is the first time i went. i was wondering what all the fuss was about, maybe 7 floats. big turn out as far as people watching the "parade". I kept saying "is that all" . finally realised that was all when the police cars went by. St. patricks day parade is better. still had a good time, but would have liked to see more floats and the only people who seemed to be having a good time were the people on the pirate float and mrs virgin islands. everybody else seemed bummed out no spirit no fun.
last year there were over a dozen"floats"and it was just like the st pats parade, the whole parade last year took about 2 hours to pass with all the floats politicians ect,ect...dory and val should not have tried to change a good thing, but they tried and it failed so now they know
so we just picked the wrong year to go. i hope next year is better
Yes, I was really looking forward to it and found the parade to be a big disappointment, I thought maybe some float owners were boycotting for some reason. Much bigger in years past and I always liked it more than St. Pat's. Although starting from the other end does allow people to get to the beach right up until when the parade starts.
Oh well still a nice day at the beach.
