Read it and weep.
This man is bound and determined to squeeze every last penny he can out of the VI taxpayers to indulge his and his cronies enhanced lifestyles while our senators look on and do nothing.

It surely is an abuse of power when the Lt Gov already owns a home on St Thomas. Lt Govs in the four previous administrations have lived on STX, and their hotel accommodations while doing business on STT have been paid for by the government which is reasonable enough. My understanding is that there is no provision in VI law to provide accommodation for the Lt Gov regardless of the island on which he lives.

"The governor had been advised by Mr. Henderson (Mr. Mapp’s own chief legal counsel) that such action would be illegal, but the territory’s leader had rejected the opinion, holding firm to his belief that the government should foot the bill."

"The government ( meaning us, we the taxpayers) should foot the bill."
We're footing the bill for a lot of FRIGGING nonsense since he's become Monarch.
The man's unrepentant and unmitigated sense of entitlement is astounding yet unsurprising.

One of the continued problems is so many voice their dislike for Mapp, then when they see him out and about they gush all over him when they were bad mouthing him minutes earlier. Me i just ignore him when i see him around. One has to wonder if he really thinks he's liked or just doesn't care...

He doesn't care. It's obvious.
He obviously doesn't care what the law says either since he's issued an illegal executive order. The man has no ethics nor fiduciary responsibility.
From monarch to dictator?
He'll always have his sycophants as they want the crumbs falling from his lap.

I don't think Potter is a.m. I have heard he really likes women.

A really low point has been reached when/if a discussion such as this devolves to the questioning of someone's motives based on their gender or sexual preference.

Well, excuse me.
I normally wouldn't and don't but this is Mapp and Potter.
I may have managed to lose any smidgen of respect I may have attempted to have for this administration and this despot and his golden ear-ringed sidekick.

I excuse much but not an offensive argumentum ad hominem.

Not knowing much, but does the VI Constitution allow executive orders? Have they ever been used in the past? Curious.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_order

These orders are legal instruments by which a Governor carries out the duties of his office.

Mapp's order is illegal so it does not have to be followed to my way of thinking.
That's if the Senators and AG will fight to dismiss it.

I'd love to get Carl Hartman's take on this.
As far as I'm concerned, it is not his duty to provide housing for his Lt. Gov. at taxpayer expense.

The VI does not have a constitution. The Organic Act of 1954(?) is our governing document and the VI Code which can be found on LexisNexis.

It seems more like the mafia is running the virgin islands. In the governor's absence the Lt. Governor can just ask for more money for his own office? I realize that the VI has a unique situation due to the fact that it's almost 3 separate entities which causes it's own problems, but where do they see all of this money coming from? I realize I'm an outsider looking in, but damn people, how can you allow this to continue, but then again as long as they appeal to the uninformed public, they probably can continue this behavior for years to come. It just seems that if you had someone honest and more of a business person, they islands could be very stable and improved upon to be a top destination for not only vacationers, but a place for people to settle down and call home. Maybe you need Carly Fiorina, she could reduce the size of gov't, get the funds where they need to go and get the islands back on track. First place to start is with a gambling commission that oversees one casino and soon to be another 1/2 of a casino. Just my 2 cents.

People need to speak out. Now!

Contact all of the Senators, the AGs office, write to your local newspapers, whether print or online, demand an audit of Government house and Office
of Lt. Governor's spending by the VI Inspector General, contact your delegate
to congress, Stacy Plasket.

These are your tax dollars that is being wasted while you struggle to make ends meet.

Request that this nonsensical and illegal executive order be rescinded and that the
Governor and Lt. Governor be accountable for their spending. Make sure your senators do not fund the additional $1.13 MILLION that Mapp is presently requesting for the Lt. Governor's office.

"A society of sheep shall soon beget a government of wolves."

I might add that with a salary of $125,000, Potter can well afford his own digs.
To have us pay for it, is insulting, to say the least.

Yet another example of why the VI government is corrupt beyond all hope. Replace 'em all with states-siders, or things will never change.

Maybe we can get Trump to make the VI great again when he loses:D If anyone would be unlikely to squander tax payers dollars for personal use he'd be a safe bet.

Mapp is doing a mighty fine job, all in his own, in terms of squandering our tax dollars. He could give Trump a run for his money. Of course, Trump has only bankrupted businesses, Mapp is working on bankrupting island's government coffers. All hail Monarch Mapp.....
