Manicure question - STT
Who gives the best manicures?
I don't usually get one because they last all of 20 minutes without my screwing it up but when I was in FL had the best one ever using acrylic polish and having it heat set. It lasted a month with no dings, scratches or smirches but my nails grew out so looking for a place that does similar work. Any leads, ladies?
It was probably gel polish, not acrylic. Gel polish is set using the UV light. The most common brand used in salons is the Creative Shellac gel polish. OPI has one as well called GelColor. I can't make a recommendation of a salon there but I hope this at least helps if you decide to start calling around to the local salons to see if they offer this particular service.
Yes! That's it. Thanks crazyflamingo!
Never had it done before and loved how it lasted.
At least I know what to ask for.
Hope all is well with you!
Alana33, The BEST mani (pedi, too) on STT is Sy (Syheida) at the Elysian!! She does a fantastic job, whether regular mani/polish or gel (I have never gotten gel polish since I am a massage therapist and have short little nubby nails), BUT I do like them to be clean, free of scratchy cuticles and such. Usually do them myself but for a treat...she is marvelous! Worth a drive all the way out East from the Northside, for sure! Polished Hair & Nail Studio - 643-4197. If anyone needs info about a great nail tech on STX, I finally found someone who is great here, too!
Thanks pilatesgal318.
It'll be worth the drive if she's as good as you say and will check it out.
Alana, let me know how your nails turn out if you go to Sy!
Give up the stx location too!!!:)
They say that the gel and the uv light and also the chemicals to remove it are pretty bad for you. Then again so are most things we like 😉 at least we
Just don't go to the place by hubbly bubbly.
Darn. That's the only time I've ever had a manicure that lasted more than 20 min. Have to say, it looked amazing and lasted forever.
It was definitely an industrial strength manicure.
Will have to indulge infrequently which I do as I don't often get them in any case. Just hate when I do and don't get to enjoy for even a whole day.
Will let you know, pilatesgirl.
saltyseaslug,
Devora at Welcome Hair Care - 773-4002. Very thorough job, nice, non-toxic polish (Zoya) as well as OPI and Essie. I have been searching for someone for a year now and think she is really good!
Thank you!! How are the prices compared to state side ??
Just expect to pay more and be pleasantly surprised if it's less, however doubtful that is.
Not really sure...haven't gotten one Stateside in awhile. I would think it would be dependent on where in the States you are looking at and what kind of establishment you are used to going to (spa/resort, Asian salon, etc.). I thought her prices were good for here and the time she spent, length of time her work lasted, etc.
