Hello all! I just recently joined this wall and thank you all in advance for the information and insight you've been able to provide so far! I'm planning on moving to St. John within the next year and a half to two years so I know this is a great place to start.

Currently I hold a marketing position for a health clinic in Missouri (it's so cold here and I'm done with the snow!) and I'd love to continue this type of work when I move if possible. Any advice on places to look or any suggestions are greatly appreciated as I continue to do my own searching!

With all this said I know I have tons to learn so I'm asking for any advice, direction, and help anyone can give. Thank you in advance and I look forward to learning more from you all!

Assuming you've read the vast amount of information in the drop-down menus top of this page, have you chosen St John because of a particular job opportunity there? There is only one small medical clinic on St John and if you're planning on commuting to St Thomas for work, be aware that that commute gets very old very fast.

There are only 2 hospitals in the VI.
Juan Luis in STX. (JFL)
Roy Lester Schneider in STT. (RLSH)
STJ, as OT mentioned, has a clinic but their services are limited and basic.

Most people living on STJ come over to STT to get more in depth medical care, procedures and treatments. In life threatening emergencies, people in STJ must be transported by boat, then ambulance to RLSH.

Have you visited previously?
If not, you may wish to do a pre move visit.

STJ is more expensive to live than STT.

Thank you for the information so far!

I have visited but am planning a couple more to get away from the "vacation" scene if you will. I spoke with a few individuals about jobs while I was there last however nothing is lined out hence why I'm taking more time to make sure this is a perfect fit. I would like to stay in the area of marketing as that's what I love and I'm open to different opportunities so I've been looking at job sites as well.

Truly investigating phases at this time so I appreciate all the help!

Marketing for healthcare in the VI??? LOL. They don't even have websites here bro. Whens the last time you looked in a phobic for a number? Well we ALL have phone books here my friend. I'm going to give a 8% chance you'll find a job doing that here. Bartending or serving, no problem but you're gonna need to figure out what else you can do to make money here - hopefully not harsh just realistic.

I dont think moving to the VI is ever a "perfect fit" I think its more of a - lets see if we can make it work - kinda place.

You may be able to find a job in marketing in a different industry.
Here's a link to VI phone book.
http://www.viphonebook.com/app.php?RelId=6.6.5.2.1

Don't know if you check Craig's List for VI.
They have a jobs listing category that you can take a look at.

Don't rent apt. sight unseen.
CL tends to have some scam rentals so if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Definitely come to check things out before making your move.
Island life, while warm, isn't for everyone.

Jentry: The clinic on St John is part of the Schneider Regional group along with the cancer center. Here is the website: http://www.rlshospital.org/Home.aspx. Best of luck to you in your search.
