Major tmobile disaster

i've lived down here on St. Croix for 7 months now and came down with my tmobile plan. i had called before i left to make sure i wouldn't be charged roaming or long distance to the continental u.s. no worries for the first two months; it was just as they'd promised. then, random charges started showing up. i called and got the charges refunded for a couple of months then was advised to switch providers due to a limited coverage area. i was told to port my number and fax proof of residency to one of the rep's. i did what i was told and have been getting charged out the bum for all kinds of stuff!! since my account was closed, i couldn't cancel the easy pay option, so they've pretty much just been taking what they want without my consent. i was told they had waived my penalty fee and then today saw a $200 charge for a penalty fee.
Bottom Line: 1) if you're seriously planning on moving here, realize there's 1 tower, pretty much, and i never succeded in figuring out where you had to be to avoid charges. 2) take down names, dates, rep id #s and any info you can get to document calls to customer service. 3) cancel the ez pay option!!! i now have nearly $300 less than i should all thanks to the efficient auto bill pay option.
Be wary, Be smart
Tmobile is not STX friendly

In the Virgin Islands there are two choices: Cingular or Sprint. 😉

I have had great service and coverage with Cingular on both stx and stt. Only concern is north side of stt sometimes get connected to BVI Boat tower which then will charge roughly $1 million a minute. Need to watch for that.

schexy13,

I had the same problem recently. I don't live in STX yet but have been calling there constantly to make sure everything is lined up for my move. When I was down there last july and august I check with TMobile and they said the USVI is part of their coverage area. I called friday to complain about charges to my account and they claim that they changed their coverage area as of December. But how do they go from zero cents a minute to 69 cents a minute and not let your customers know.

I was so upset and I had to stay on the phone and hassle a supervisor for hours before my account was refunded. It seems like this has to be illegal. Also while on the phone with different reps they all gave me different information and claimed they couldn't give out their last name. Also they say they don't keep a record of calls so they didn't believe that I called last summer and was told STX was covered on my plan.

For the past 4 years I have been pleased with TMobile, but now I am extremely disgusted with their immoral business practices.
