Mail Delivery or lack thereof
I have been settled in my house in Estate harmony for over a month now. I actually went out and purchashed a mail box (never had to do that before). However, I have yet to receive any mail. I have had every piece returned. On each envelop it says, "Non-deliverable." Is it me or is is it that difficult to open a mailbox and actually insert a piece of mail. I am assuming everyone else on Estate harmony is getting their mail.
I called the main post office and she took down my name etc and said my mail person would call me back. Should I hold my breath?
Has anyone else had a problem?
Thanks,
Lance
(Warning for Lance and others that this is not useful reply with acutal information....turn back all ye that are pursuing serious advice, for what follows is merely an addition to my things I miss list. *lol*)
Ah, I have a vague memory of mail "delivery" in which a person who wasn't my spouse brought the mail addressed to us right to our house. I really thought I would miss that home mail delivery much more than I actually do. Stopping in at Mailboxes Etc. a couple of times a week isn't a hardship at all -- in fact, it's kind of a nice social outing as the staff and regulars there become friends. (Sad, I know, but at this level of gimpdom I've learned to get my socializing done when and where I can!)
What I do miss is being able to send my outgoing mail right from home, without needing to deliver to an intermediary first. Fortunately, I pay all my bills electronically -- if I didn't, I'm sure I'd constantly be battling making late payments because I didn't allow extra time in case I didn't need to/remember to get out to MBE or the Post Office for a couple of days after I would usually mail them.
Sorry you're having problems, Lance. I hope someone will pop in and offer some real insight and advice instead of just lamenting rather pointlessly.

When you put up your mailbox, did you notify the Post Office beforehand?
Estate Harmony is a very nice neighborhood but most of us oldtimers have mailboxes at either post offices or private mailbox outlets. Getting down to Sugar Estate Post Office once a week can sometimes be a bit of a chore but the Post Office is one of the places where I bump into lots of old friends who I wouldn't normally see! And even in the nicest 'hoods, others can rifle your mailbox...
And the main problem is that you need to put a post office assigned number on the box, not the house number where it sits! Ask them for that! My house sits on 12 Crystal Gade. I have a post box at the post office, but when someone, and they do, sends mail to 12 Crystal Gade, someone writes 2112 on the envelope! I guess that's my number too! They never told me. I don't and should put it if I want mail dleivered to that box that my tenant put there!
