I just wanted to take time to thank everyone from this board for all the information that has been passed on. I have been a lurker on this board for what seems like a very long time. My wife and I have made the move to St. John and have received so much valuable information from this board. It has given us great insight as what to expect in everyday island life.

We are one of lucky few who have made the transition with jobs in place upon our arrival. Yes it is quite different than what we were use to back in Wisconsin, but we were prepared for that and expected to deal with the things that happen in every day island living.

Again thank you all and I do hope to become a regular contributor.

Tom

Hello Tom, Welcome to the Virgin Islands!!!!

So happy you dropped that note. Hope to see you around this board assisting other would-be-Virgin Islanders with advice based on your experiences moving to St. John.

What do you think of St. John so far??? 🙂

We have been traveling to St. John for the past ten years and have purchased property (condo) two years ago. We have been wanting to move to St. John for quite some time and when we got the oportunity we jumped on it. We have only been here two weeks so I am sure we will have stories.

We did bring a certified cahiers check to open a bank account and still have to wait ten days for funds to be available because it was from the states but we did kind of expect this to happen. We have had no big suprises as of yet.

We look forward to giving our .02 of information to people that would like any info.

Thanks and have a great day.

Tom and Nancy

Where in Wisconsin did you move from? We are Cheeseheads and at some point in our lives hope to move to the USVI.

No more Packer Fans on STJ, you'll have to move to STT.
Fricking Cheeseheads.

Okay, let me rephrase that. We live in Wisconsin, ergo, we are in theory "cheeseheads." However, my husband (that would be Pete) is a diehard Chicago Bears fan. Me? Well, sorry, I do root fer 'dos Packers 'der, hey. Anyway, someday, if the USVI comes up with a football team, well, "see ya Pack!"

Hi there,
I too am looking to re-locate. What can you share re: CHEAP(est) accomodations.
IE Water Island as well as anywhere else.
I'm an artist 🙂
Thank you,
Tommy

Hi Marcia and Pete,

I have seen your name on other travel boards.

We moved from the Milwaukee area. We aren''t football fans so we don't follow the Packers.

We have been wanting to move to St. John for a very long time, when we had the oportunity to make the move we jumped on it and here we are.

Everyone we have met on St. John has been very helpful and I can't beleive how easy it is to make new friends here.

We are proof dreams do come true.

Thank you to all the islanders for the welcome to St. John.

Tom

congratulations!
How could you possibly have left this fabulous Wisconsin weather though? Hee hee. Oh wait, it's almost 80 today. Keep the posts coming as I'd like to know how life really is on Island. Permanently.
