Lunch today in STT
On Water Island and taking a friend into town for lunch and shopping. Trying to come up with someplace different this time to hit for lunch. Won't have a car....will be catching the dollar taxi to downtown. Cuzzins, Gladys, Hook Line & Sinker, Green House, Fat Turtle....all are good but I am interested in a restaurant that I haven't been to yet. Looney Bien I understand is closed with a sign in the window saying "building for lease". Any ideas?
Try out The Pie Whole.
I thought the Pie Whole didn't open until 5:00. Are they open for lunch?
I'm reading about the Twisted Cork. Anyone been there? It must be where Craig & Sally's used to be?
I had a delicious lunch at the Pie Whole a month ago....so yes they are open for lunch.
Yes! Thank you for the confirmation that Pie Whole is open for lunch. I've always heard great things about that restaurant but thought it didn't open until 5. ......we don't venture over to STT much for dinner because my Captain doesn't like driving the dinhy after the sun sets. I see on their web site http://www.piewholepizza.com/ they are open from 11-3 for lunch! Yeah! Well.....now I have to make a hard decision. Twisted Cork or Pie Whole. Very different food style/choices. I'll let my friend decide. Thanks!
Try Petite Pump Room above the downtown ferry offices - great West Indian fare.
Love the conch, fungi, plantains and sweet potatoe. Sometimes they have sour sop ice cream and my sisters love the tamerind ice tea.
I have been to Pie Whole many, many times and ONLY for lunch. Delicious, but everyone knows this, so it's usually not easy to get a seat. They have a great lunch special -- choose a salad and a pizza or pasta for under $20 (might be $14 or $15.) Twisted Cork was really good, too. I had the burger (bacon jelly, I think it was -- yum) and the fries are fried in duck fat. Whoa, talk about good stuff. I had an issue with the service, but I'm a server, myself, and tend to be a tough judge. My bf's meal had to go back to the kitchen, but once it came out as ordered, he enjoyed it as well. He got some kind of French dip, only with lamb.
Nice to know about the Twisted Cork fare.
I always enjoy Hook, Line and Sinker for lunch as well.
The veiws and breeze are great as is the food and amount of choices.
PastaGoGo in Royal Same Mall is fantastic, stylish, and affordable. Definitely worth a visit when you're in town. Pasta $6, fresh baked muffins, paninis, etc.
The Pie Hole is very good.
We visited the Twisted Cork when it first opened. I didn't like my meal, it was served cold, I think it was frozen and then reheated.. The Mrs liked her meal. It could have been an "off" day. I did comment about the center of the entree being cold, but it met with deaf ears.
My friend decided on the Twisted Cork yesterday. Enjoyed the meal and the service. Of course, we took the 10.45 ferry to STT and arrived Frenchtown/Twisted Cork at 11.17......I checked my phone and registered the time in my brain because while the web site says they open @ 11, the Twisted Cork actually opens at 11.30. No problem. We went to Betsy's and had a cold drink....Betsy had some great soups and other things on her menu and one day I will have lunch there. Anyway, back to Twisted Cork. Elgin was our server and he was friendly, prompt, professional. My friend and I decided to just share some starters and appetizers so that we could taste several different things. Oysters, portobello crostini, apple/spinach/fennel salad - all were good. Mac-n-chees was THE BEST!!
Tonight is my friend's last night and returns to FL tomorrow. Weather permitting (and what's with the clouds but no rain on Water Island?), my Captain, friend and I are shooting for Pie Whole this evening for supper. Get there @ 5 with intent to be back on WI when it's still "twillight".
Thanks for the great ideas for lunch in STT!
