looking to move
hey all, i am a college grad from new jersey looking to poosibly move down there. i went on cruises there and i already know i love it there. i was wondering if anyone knows of any good long term rentals or apartments that are not crazy expensive. and also if anyone can give me info for law enforcement jobs, i have a b.a. in criminal justice. i have heard that law enforcement is much different there than here, so any advice would help. if not that, any info on any place hiring grads would be welcomed. thanks.
I don't have any personal experience in the law enforcement area, but, after living here for almost 9 years, my guess is that the odds would be pretty lowf or them to hire a grad from off-island. 99% of the officers I have seen have been "bahn heah". Anyone else have any input on this subject?
As for apartments, they are all expensive. This isn't like Jersey, where you have apartment complexes in different areas, and some are cheaper than others. The majority of apartments are attached to someone's home. Finding "cheap" apartments is just a matter of who you know, time of year and luck. And if you DO find a cheap one...stay in it! I've been in my apartment for over 7 years and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. $860/mo, includes cable and electric, right next to the swimming pool, at the end of a dead end road, on 20 acres. And I had to talk her INTO raising my rent from when I first moved in at $775 7 1/2 years ago! That's why I'm still in it!
mikey,
Like Marty said, police jobs here might be tough to come by for a continental fresh out of college. You might want to check into federal jobs maybe something in Homeland Security. As far as housing it is all relative. Depending on what part of NJ you live in you will either think STT is expensive or cheap. I lived in the part of N.J. that makes STT look cheap.
