looking to make a move to St Thomas
Hello and good day!
I am looking to talk with someone about moving to StThomas within the next year. so any info on jobs and condos for rent would be nice. I'm looking for a 2 bedroom with a/c specifically with close by laundry facilities. I'm a loan officer and I heard that there maybe some jobs in that area available also I have 10 yrs experience in taxes(personal and business preparation) So email with all the info you have available as I continue my research process on making my move to St Thomas within the next year.
Thank You
Dana

Dana1,
Welcome to the board and as STT Resident says there is a lot of information on the subjects you ask about. There is a search feature in the tool bar and you will hopefully enjoy reading some previous posts.
Have you been to StT before? Was it through visit on cruise ship, vacation for a week or two, visiting friend or family? Sometimes a little more info on yourself will help get the ball rolling.
Typically, it is very difficult to get a job from off island. Although it can be done. To research your career field a bit more as to what the market is you might want to see how many places are operating in the accounting field and or financing field by checking the www.viphonebook.com website. I know of one financing comp that has just opened in office this past week on StX. It is possible this person may expand onto StT in the next year or two.
As for housing, I personally would not consider taking a place without being here to see it with your own eyes. There are some horror stories on that one. Don't lock yourself in on anything without first hand knowledge. StT has a few short term rental places to stay in for two weeks to a month that will allow you to find your apartment or condo to lease. Many use this option and come back to the board and say that within that period of time they were able to find a place that satisfied them and a job to start off with. Sometimes not what they wanted exactly but close enough to start with. Flexibility and patience will help you immensely as you begin your endeavor.
Good Luck with your research!
(Wouldn't spell check over here be great!)
