Looking for David James songsinger on st croix....
Hi friends
I regularly check out this board to see what is happening in the USVI.
We, "my gww", and I have been spending much time on St Croix over the past several years. We first visited stx in 1990, just after Hugo had "destroyed" much of the economy and infrastructure. We both felt that, if this was St Croix at it's worst we would really love St Croix at it's best.
Over the next decade we traveled to many other Caribbean destinations. Including Tortola, Virgin Gorda,Anagada, Anguilla, St Martin, and of course St Thomas and St John and especially St Croix.
We are back to St Croix. Since 1999 we have been on St Croix for at at least month each winter. {except 2005}.
We will be returning this January (2006).
When we were on St Croix in January 2004 we happened to go to the Solitude General Store to have some ribs and beer. It turned out to be a memorable night. As we ate our ribs and swatted the mosquitos, a local singer, songwriter began to entertain us. We began to really enjoy his wonderful mix of country and folk music.
Yes... it was one of those nights. A group of about 18 people arrived and it turned out that they All lived about 20 miles away from us "back home". They were on St Croix for a few days before flying to Tortola for a two week sailing adventure. Back Home for us was near Sacramento California.
The group left, but we stayed. We really enjoyed David James.
He was talented and entertaining. We bought his CD and have since often enjoyed this "unknown" entertainers music. David lived on St Croix with his wife and children. His wife worked for one of the private schools on island. His CD was produced by Troppo Forte Music in Christiansted.
He said that he often played with better known groups on the island. In fact, the Sacramento group had followed him from a "sports bar" where they heard him the night before.
)OK...here is my question...Where is David James and where can we hear him this winter. We will be on St Croix from late January through early March. Thanks for your help...David?
bill on stx
David James regularly hosts a radio show on one of the stations... I think the Mongoose. He's also a regular performer out and about at many of the beach bars and clubs on the island. You should be able to enjoy him performing quite a few times during your next visit to STX.
93.5 Paradise. It is in Gallows Bay above the post office. He is the mid-day guy.
and he was performing at Brew Pub tonight
